We had the good fortune of connecting with Gloria Holt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gloria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I was scared , nervous, and excited at the same time. But I always had it in my mind, that I was going to establish, build and leave an legacy and inheritance for my children.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Independent Artist, with an ol school hip hop flow. I write my own lyrics. I am very up front about who I am through my music. My music is how I connect with others. Music is how I express myself. I might studdard when I speak, but never any issues when I am on the mic!!!( HAHAHAHAHAHA) True Story! I been rhyming and rapping since a young age.
I choose to become a mother first, because life had happened. I have no regrets about choosing them over my dreams.
Later on in years, my dreams never let me sleep, even when I was awoke, My dreams where vivid.
So, I dropped my first single in 2018…not really learning the business side yet, than the pandemic happened.
I now how to be at home, with the children…and I needed more ways to make money….
So, I created a.music label to drop my own music on…I MADE PLENTY OF MISTAKES FOR TWO YEARS….
.
I had to medically seat down for a year in a half.
I could not sing, nor rap, or dance.
I stopped breathin, diagnosed with sleep arena, rehab for therapy for my back and I had to get a tonsillectomy!!!.
.
I made sure I got my relationship right with God, and to always remember why I am doing what I am doing…never letting my ego damage the destiny of leaving a legacy and inheritance for my children.
I learned more about the business ends of the music industry and still learning, so I can continue to Grow, become more knowledgeable, putting my knowledge to use to:
Become better as a Artist, Business Owner, and Person.
My I always be a blessing to others, that will better life situations 🙏🏾

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I love the outdoors…. so I would take them to the Waterfront park. We are home to some me of the greatest, so I would take them to The Muhammad Ali center. ( The Louisville Lip). The Slugger Museum.
I am an artist, so diffently take them.to some open mic nights like Melt502 on Tuesday, The Louisville Vibe at Havana Blues on Thursday etc.
Some folks still like to ride the Boat. ( The Belle of Louisville) They do have great parties. If you are here on Derby…we can gamble at the tracks or just mingle.
We have a lot of good ol junk joints, hole in the walls…that vibes all night.
Downtown has great places to eat, also the MOM and POPS joints be on point like…Mommas Soul Food, in the WestEnd.
Sometimes it may not be much, but it’s all about your perspective.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
