We had the good fortune of connecting with Gloria Burgess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gloria, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Growing up in South Carolina has profoundly shaped my identity and values. Raised by two exemplary parents, I was instilled with a deep appreciation for life and the importance of family bonds. Witnessing my father’s entrepreneurial journey served as a catalyst for my own aspirations in business. Observing my mother’s creative process, where she would effortlessly transform raw materials into beautiful creations on her sewing machine, left an indelible mark on me. Her passion for crafting beauty instilled in me a deep appreciation for the value of creativity and the satisfaction of producing something meaningful. Together, my parents exemplified the virtues of hard work and consistency, demonstrating that dedication and perseverance are essential ingredients for success in any endeavor.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The art of crocheting holds a special place in my heart, as it allows me to transform create gorgeous items with yarn and a needle into timeless creations that endure the test of time. The process of crafting with my hands brings me immense joy, knowing that each piece carries a piece of my creativity and passion.

Similarly, my journey as a photographer is fueled by that same fervor and creativity. Capturing moments and emotions through the lens is not just a profession, but a true expression of my artistic vision. Witnessing the sheer delight on the faces of others as they experience my work fills me with profound happiness, affirming the power of creativity to evoke emotion and connect people in meaningful ways.

The journey to where I stand today has been marked by countless hours of relentless hard work and unwavering dedication. As a creator, the pursuit of excellence is a constant companion, with my mind continuously exploring avenues for innovation and improvement. Despite the inevitable setbacks and challenges along the way, the resilience of a creator lies in their relentless pursuit of pushing boundaries and refining their craft. With each endeavor, whether successful or not, I remains committed to the process, persistently seeking new approaches until mastery is achieved.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As someone who thrives on spontaneity and embraces the thrill of exploring new horizons, I’m always eager to venture to different locations and immerse myself in diverse experiences. When it comes to dining out, my palate delights in the vibrant flavors of Greek and Caribbean cuisine. And what better way to enhance the dining experience than with the infectious energy of live music, adding an extra layer of excitement and joy to the ambiance.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout goes to the best business partner and sister ever Dianna Pinckney. My parents Derome & Ruth and family. My leaders Bishop Tony L. Mitchell, Sr & Lady Sandra Mitchell. To the man who is ALWAYS by my side my high school sweetheart & husband Arthur, my wonderful kids and bundle of joy grands.
