We had the good fortune of connecting with Gloria Baah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gloria, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was at a crossroad where I felt as if I was constantly repeating myself and working aimless jobs. I wanted to be in a position where I could have the flexibility and time to finish school but also be able to live some life and do what I enjoy doing. My close friends and family members had told me countless of times that I needed to invest and start my own business. I was finally ready to do that. With my best friend by my side we started throwing parties, hosting dance classes, and networking. After our first party in February of this year, it dawned on us that we can really do this.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I chose the name Orion for our business because the constellation is visible throughout the whole world and It is one of the most conspicuous and recognizable constellations. I wanted the business to embody that meaning. Our goal is to have a stomping ground that’s visible all throughout Atlanta. We create exclusive, sensational experiences that leave people wanting more; be it a private party, an energetic dance class, or a creative photo shoot.

We got to where we are today professionally with the encouragement and support of our friends and family. It definitely wasn’t easy however the support of our followers and friends continue to surprise us in every event. As of right now it is difficult getting ourselves projected into the limelight, however the support of our friends keep us afloat. They help us in anyway they can be it promoting us on their Instagram or attending the event. We’ve also grown a small fan base along the way who have started to spread the word about us.

We have learned to be patient and continue to be our genuine selves. Slowly but surely people are discovering us.

What I would like people to take away from our brand and story is that our brand is worth investing in. There will never be a doll moment nor will one be left unfulfilled with the experience. We are a part of the small percentage of promoters and party hosts in Atlanta who actually take the time to build rapport with our guests. You’ll never be just another ticket number to us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a bit of a tough question for me to answer because although I organize parties/ events, I don’t do much outside of attempting to keep up with my college classes and networking. I don’t get out of the house much on my own. When I connect with my close friends we typically prefer a more intimate environment such as a sleepover or movie night. We enjoy ordering in and partaking in intellectual conversations as we watch movies that can range from rated M for mature to animated Disney movies. Somewhere along along the line, we will be discussing spirituality and the existence of extra terrestrial beings.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I would love to shoutout my best friend and business partner Jessie Durant. She’s the creative mind behind everything that you see visually. She does the decorations for the parties/ events and controls the social media platforms.

A great shoutout also goes to my close friends who believed in my vision and continue to encourage me to strive for bigger and better.

Crazy enough I also wanna shout out my college experiences and the many jobs I’ve worked. Attending college and having to juggle a job has taught me that I’m not a big fan of institutionalized learning nor do I care much for capitalism. My struggle definitely motivated me to do for myself and create my own stream of somewhat controlled income.
