Meet Glenn Wiggins | Founder & Head of Design of Glad We Met Clothing

We had the good fortune of connecting with Glenn Wiggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Glenn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Since the age of 16 years old, I always wanted to become a fashion designer. I am 31 years old and I felt it was the right timing to launch my clothing brand, Glad We Met. Clothing is an extension of your personality and often can tell you where a person has been or heading into life. I would like to use my platform to encourage others to change their environment but look good while doing it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the Founder & Head of Design for Glad We Met Clothing. Glad We Met is a luxury leisure clothing brand based in Atlanta,Georgia. Our mission is to create profound style moments that provoke conversation, incite creative connections, and feed each individual’s “why.”
I believe what sets our company apart is our foundation is centered in our ability to transform real life situations and stories into an entire project/collection that will resonate with everyday people and provide a spark to their daily wardrobe.
I have been working in the fashion industry for over 13 years. The years of experience I have had has allowed me to wear many hats and work with some of the industry’s most talented individuals. I am from Mobile,Alabama a small city and I’m thankful to say I was give my first opportunity by Greg & Nancy Harvell. Most people don’t get a chance to start their career or have the opportunity to learn more usually they have to move to a bigger city. I started with the mentality that I would work for free in order to learn more. I wake up and go to sleep thinking about design.
The journey hasn’t been easy at all. The biggest distractions I have had to overcome is trying to live up to the other’s expectations. I had to learn that God is proud of me no matter if I reach a certain status in society.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always recommend when my friends come in town to visit Cigar City Club, Bar Vegan, Impulse Karaoke Lounge. I like spots that are not as crowded and you can have decent conversations. I also love visiting the lobby of The Starling on Friday nights great music and dancing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate a shoutout to my entire family and close friends who support me mentally and spiritually on a weekly basis. I would like to also thank my mentor Darian Williams who never gave up on me and my late friend Derrick Shavers who was a big part of me launching my clothing brand.
