We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni “KrossJayy” Esquivel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giovanni, what’s your definition for success?
The meaning of success very’s from person to person for me success is more of a feeling rather then something materialistic you can have it all on the outside but be empty in the i Inside.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me aside from everybody is definitely my versatility I’m good at working with different genre’s because growing up in my household we would listen to everything from trap, reggaetón, banda etc. What I’m most proud of in my production is definitely quality listening to my older beats and then listening to what I make currently really makes me realize how far I’ve came. Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy I really had to step out of my comfort zone trying to network by talking to new people was definitely new to me to some it mind not be a big deal but to someone who has always been to themselves it was definitely hard.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When In chicago we definitely got to go downtown and walk around the city and take pictures at the navy pier, the bean and in front of the Michael Jordan statue when it comes to food there is many places my favorites are actually out in the suburbs starting with tommy’s red hots where they have the best spicy grilled chicken sandwich but if your not I’m the mood for a sandwich there is a pizza place called Amigos they serve their specialty pizza called Mexican pizza it comes with bacon, beans, mushrooms, hot sauce and a bunch of other things it great and my favorite drink place is definitely coffee haus it’s a place that serves boba drinks, teas, smoothies, frappes it amazing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely all my family they’ve always been there for me when I needed them they were a big help when I first started getting into my career and I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for their help and push when times got rough.
