Meet Giovanee Welcome | Music artist and chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanee Welcome and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giovanee, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
To me taking a risk is the same as taking a gamble. You got a fifty fifty chance of success, but with no risk there no guarantee of any success. We spend money to make money that just life if you fail then try another route. I come from a quiet household I wasn’t very outspoken. I had to learn a few things. If I didn’t learn to use my voice more communication would be one of my challenges foingnforth in life. I had to put myself in roles that required me to speak out in crowds. Still I’m only human so I’ll still have my moments were nerves will kick in, but you got to jump into everything you do head first and worry about the outcome afterwards. Soon after you know my confidence started building up which open much more opportunities for me. I able to network and converse business plan and ideas.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started writing music back in my final year of high school and never stopped writing. Everyone always sits there to decide what kind of artist they want to be, but me on the other hand would ask why settle on one genre. I go by the name SimplyKg(simply King). I went through so much name a decided to stick with this because I feel it describes me the best way possible. I’m a simple man who is a king building his empire. When it comes to me writing music I write based off my own experiences to where I know others may relate to whether it’s your basic life or your wild side, soft side or tough exterior. Like I said before I’m only human. One thing I can say that I’m proud of is the opportunities that were given to work with great sound engineers and other artist. Coming later this year I plan on releasing an ep which I have under the name “Project Sloth”. Haven’t officially announced it but it’s my story that I’m willing to share. Life has its upside and downs and I can only try my best. Emotions get riled up and sometimes you might have people that hold you back. With that said to be where I am now was a long journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well living in Georgia one place I like to visit is five point. I feel like that where you’ll see some creativity and hustle. It shows how people are working on being independent workers or entrepreneurs I should say. Other than that I’m a foodie and a drinker. There’s no particular place I’d go but as long as there’s great food I’m there. I love all the festivals that Georgia has annually I get to try all the food that local small business create. Networking in Georgia is great too I’ve met some amazing people from tattoo artists, other music artists photographers theater actors.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Interesting enough I didn’t get into writing music right off the bat. I actually started writing poetry and Maya Angelou along with Langston Hughes were my inspiration. It was the tone that gave the words life. Later on down the road I gained an interest in beats and words started forming in my head that it I had to write it down. Finding this new path in my life the amount of support that I received was fulfilling. The support of a few friends and family and importantly my mother gave me the drive to continue on.
