We had the good fortune of connecting with Gio Imani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gio, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I got my first job at 16 like many other people and quickly realized that I’m too self sufficient to work for someone else. To me professionalism is in how you act and treat other people, I never wanted to sacrifice my own style and personality again.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to do more than your basic “glam” look. I love glam but with personality. I wouldn’t want to keep doing the same eyeshadow look on everyone all the time…seems like that gets old. I want to reach a younger clientele so I can finally do the makeup I want to do. Right now I’m not getting the clients I want and need.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not from Atlanta, but I do really like going to krog St. it has a really nice vibe and it’s a safe space for artists.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My photographer better knows as my brother! We do everything together and have a lot of the same ideas.
