We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gina, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
This question is always a difficult one for most of us at some point in time in our career. I find when I hit a real roadblock, I pray for guidance. Then I wait. This is the hard part… waiting for something you’ve never seen. Or ever experienced. It’s not the most comfortable of positions to be in – but it is necessary for true growth. Patience is an underrated virtue and is key for success.

When people show up “out of no where” and are eager to support me or when someone says, “Your music really touched me” or “helped me through a tough time” that’s when I know all these years of work is worth it. That’s what keeps me going.
Knowing the joy it will bring you for every song or score I release makes it all worth it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well I so don’t want to bore you so I’ll again try to keep it brief.

What sets me apart from others is that I have a strange tendency to do things that ‘haven’t been done quite like that’ before.

I don’t look for it – I just get compelled with a desire to make a difference and then I just go for it. Of course, I check in every morning for direction through prayer so if my day changes to simply making time for someone who really needs me – so be it. My days are Spirit filled and I believe Spirit led. Hence, why I believe I eventually emerged as a Multi-Genre Artist.

After releasing 5 different genres in 2021: Classical, Gospel, Pop, Electronic Dance Music, and Rock, I have been sharing the music as much as possible with whoever desires it. Mostly importantly, I think it is important for our generation and youth to know that just because something hasn’t been done before doesn’t make it wrong or bad. I don’t regret for a moment releasing all of the album in a year – not only does it make it very clear that I am a Multi-Genre Artist (I have more Albums in my head believe me!!) but it was to serve as a reminder to all of us that we are one people. We are more alike than otherwise.

So love was the catalyst and motivation to get me through the releases and my campaign. As an Independent Artist, releasing albums consecutively from June to November was a daunting task. But seeing how much it really made people truly happy I would do it all over again.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend who was visiting the area to Grouse Grind in North Vancouver (if they were in shape).

If not, I would totally drive them up to Whistler (Gosh I love Whistler) and spend 3 nights there for sure. Then I would take them to the Naam in Vancouver – a vegan eatery that’s amazing. The next day, we would go to Meet… another great spot.

Now I’m drawing a blank because I generally don’t go anywhere for more than a few days without starting to work again haha!!

Wonderful places in Vancouver would include: The Aquarium, The Seawall (Stanley Park), Robson Street, Yaletown, Every vegan place from the lower mainland to Abbotsford… I love it all.

If we could slip across the border, I would take them to the Seattle Space Needle, Robeks for a killer awesome smoothie, and for a walk along Semiahmoo in Birch Bay/Blaine – right on the border where you can see Canada across the bay.

Pretty awesome.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Haha! I feel like I’m receiving an award. There’s a long list but I’ll keep it brief:

God – I dare to keep my faith in God.

My Husband -Dr. Jamie Gavin.

My Hardcore fans – Thank you!

My family/friends:  Basil, Johanna, Paul, Johnny, Tricia and Nadia Williams

support – even when they have no idea what I’m up to they try to be cool about it!!

Russia and Ukraine… Yes you read right. It was the Russian community in Vancouver that poured on the love and encouraged me – especially as a singer. Then Ukraine – the country of Ukraine finished what Russia started. I’ve been to Ukraine about 6 times now and it has become my 2nd home. So this conflict is very painful to see and I wish for everything to resolve sooner than later… So I thank the country of Ukraine for featuring me multiple times on National Television as a singer, pianist, and choral/orchestral composer. Four choirs and two orchestras. Unforgettable night. What an honour.
