We had the good fortune of connecting with Ghetto Muva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ghetto, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
The Ghetto inspires me. My culture inspires me. Black people are truly the innovators. I can walk into a bodega and see a kid eating a bag of chips and he instantly becomes my muse. It’s art alongside my music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
All my life I have pursued being an activist and have been fighting for change amongst our community. From the inequalities, unfair treatment of my brown people and to taking back whats ours. My music has always been an expression of my fight for equality. The new music I’m releasing will go hand and hand with my vision. From my lyrics, my sound, style of music and from my visuals, you will understand why they call me “Ghetto Muva”. They call us Ghetto and the N word to oppress us but my main objective is to shed a more positive spin on it all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im really a homebody to be honest. Lol. My home is my peace of mind. But if I had to go out it would be to anything BLACK OWNED! I love representing my culture in anyway I can. I love black art so maybe a few black art galleries. Black Jazz is definitely at the top of my list for sure. Some black festivals. Especially black cuisine spots. Thats just my take on what I would do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My close people. I wouldn’t be going as hard as i am now if it wasnt for them. Some days I didnt have money for food or gas. But this person always made sure I had things of survival. I thank you so much.
