Meet George Sloan | Owner of Master Tasks Virtual Assistant

We had the good fortune of connecting with George Sloan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi George, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thoughts for going into busy for myself fulltime, was actually forced. For many years, I worked in the financial industry and fintech. While in those roles I always had the urge to do my own thing full time, but I allowed fear to control what God was pushing me to do. I’ve always had gigs on the side such as reality tv, hosting red carpets, hosting parties, social media influencer, and brand ambassadors for companies to name a few, but was afraid to step away from my 9-5. In my eyes I felt as though, I’m making 6 figures a year in my career, and it would be challenging to start a business full time and get back to this compensation range. I clearly did not want to trust the process. While in my fintech role as a Senior Project Manager, it was then I realized, if I could work like this for a company where the CEO probably don’t know I even exist, I could do the same for my own business. Again, I was afraid to walk away thinking I would miss the money, so I thought. In November of 2023, I lost my grandmother who was the matriarch of my family. Losing her was hard for me mentally and spiritual. Although I was able to take bereavement from work. I found myself still working while away on leave. Clearly this was not work life balance. Again, I thought, I need to push my business full time. In February of this year, I lost my nephew to gun violence. It was one of those situations where he was in the wrong place and the wrong time. Not even over my grandmother’s death, this one tore me down to the core of my soul. Although he was my nephew, we had more of a father son type of relationship. With all of this going on, work being overly stressful and not having a healthy relationship with my manager, I decided to leave the workforce and focus solely on myself. I gave my resignation the same day I received the call of my nephew’s death, however, this time there was no fear because I knew God would take care of me and he’s done just that. Many people have different reasonings behind starting their own business, my however has always been deep in me since my early years. I was raised to go to school and find a good job, and that’s what I did because all my teen years, it sounded so right, but little did I know it was more with in me that I did not know I had until life happened and opened my eyes.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Master Tasks Virtual Assistant is a home-grown business I started from my home office. We specialize in virtual assistance and call Answering Services. Primarily we focus on Funeral Homes. Doctor offices, Law firms and Tow Truck companies. However, we don’t tell clients no if they’re not in these industries. With many years in leadership roles, I understand the importance of business and client satisfaction. This is what I pride my business on. There’s no business is too small for us here. I understand everyone has a start. So, each client has a unique package that’s tailor to fit their needs and budget. We get to know our clients, there’s sale and done here. We like to know who they are, how did they start their business, etc. Each client goes through a discovery process. All of our clients are onboarded with a 3-month contract. I’m a firm believer, we want to make sure we are the right fit for your business, but also want to make sure you’re a right fit for our business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a socialite. So, I enjoy being around people in general. Many say I’m a comedian, but I really don’t see it. I enjoy making people laugh. A few spots I like to visit in Atlanta is Sky View ATL, Daiquiri Ville , Area4, Over Story and Blakes
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I ‘ve been blessed to have some amazing people in my life. My mother taught me how to love and love what I do, my father taught me how to work hard and never settle or stand for less. Know who you are and what you bring to the table. If people don’t freely respect you, make them. If there’s no change, that not the environment for me. These are life lessons I stand on daily. My partner Isaiah, my friends and sisters who have always supported me and pushed me to do my best. Lastly, my awesome mentors, Kizzie Davis, Trenessia Smith and Kissena Sheets. Each of these ladies have poured so much wisdom and knowledge into me. They have been such an inspiration to me down through the years.
