We had the good fortune of connecting with Geno Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Geno, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I Constantly recenter my Focus due to me having to take a step back in times where stuff wasn’t how I wanted it and access what’s needed, How can I be better ,what needs to addressed or what am I Doing wrong. I challenge myself at all times in becoming better at what I do. Because of that, it conditioned me in being a more well rounded individual. Listed below are habits that have helped to shape who I am today and contributed greatly to the success of my business. -Discipline -Focus -Constantly learning and evolving -Being open to change -Openness to criticism -Practicing and improving in order to hone my skills and be better at what I do -Versatility -Goal driven -Patience -Passion in loving what I do -Staying grounded -I wouldn’t say taking risk because risk make it seems radical so I say having that leap of faith in trying new techniques etc – Professional no matter who the client is – Uncompromising quality of always having to supply that product is instrumental in retaining and gaining new business – Exclusively selective with who represent the brand – Being personable, welcoming, honest and transparent in all That I do especially with clients – time management – Planning and preparation – execution and developing a style unique to me – developing a task workflow Processing – Having a final product that resonates – meeting clients demand

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Photography is art in itself. It is no way easy as some may think as simply pushing a shutter. The learning curve is a long one and is not limited to just the basics but expand further and into other areas such as lighting, makeup, design, the creative aspect of it and giving your images a feel to it. It takes sacrifice and long periods of research, trial and errors, neglect, criticisms, hard work, sleepless nights of being on the computer just practicing, reading, being kicked off properties for trespassing, getting out there and networking, the list goes on. I overcome all by resilience and trusting the process. Most importantly, it’s a passion, something I love and enjoy doing regardless. It’s an escape for me so the negatives really didn’t matter once I am creating. One thing i have learnt along the way is to never limit yourself and lean not to your own understanding. Learn as much and continue to do so. Information cannot be too much. Don’t be afraid of being criticized because that can be a factor to help propel you. If something is not to your liking fix it. After all, I am a simple guy who doesn’t like the lights, so I would just want the world to know me, my brand or story As someone who added to the art and contributed in some positive light, helping to grow, shape and also pick up the baton from the ones who paved the way in the photography/videography industry.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Atlanta has a lot of cool spots to cater to everyone’s need. Since I’m a photographer these will be more tailored to that relevance. I find the goat farm, Ponce city market, piedmont park, Roswell mill, Jackson street bridge, downtown Atlanta, Arabia mountain, Stone Mountain Park, botanical garden, centennial park, shops at buckhead, tallulah falls, Little 5 points and Krog Street met Atlanta just to name a few

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I took on this role knowing it’s a long learning curve. Information is steadily available and I use one of the most trusted platforms to learn as much which is YouTube. That’s like a college in itself. I’ve learnt a lot when starting out by watching and draws inspiration from many Many Great photographers out there. Just to name a few lexonart, islandboi photography, kaliartistry, dubmitskiy david, Peter McKinnon, Many Ortiz, jason vong, jason Anthony, Brendan Forbes, lindsayadler, Erik daniedlson, prince meyson, Matt ferr, joeyldotcom, artcrazyphoto, Freyer photo, shevchenko photos just to name a few. I ask a lot of questions also and sometimes when asked some of these people are readily available or would give a quick response or words of encouragement.
