We had the good fortune of connecting with Genee Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genee, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking has played a huge role in my life. I truly leaped out on faith last year and decided that no one else was going to move my cheese–meaning I had to take control of my money. With the pandemic raging last year, I had seven checking accounts and six of them were overdrafted. The one account that was in good standing had less than five dollars in it. I knew I was either going to sink or swim, and I needed to do or die. That’s when I decided to take a huge leap of faith! I was hustling my mixed concoctions, known as Party Wat3r, out of my car. My car even had expired tags that I could not afford to renew. I was making deliveries of my curated mixes and then an opportunity presented itself to sell Party Wat3r outside of Zubi’s Tacos. In the thick of the pandemic, crowds began to gather and people started to share my location and times when I was outside of the taco restaurant. It is much safer to drink outdoors while enjoying yourselves! This adventure has been such a blessing! If I had to do things all over again, I would have leaped much sooner. My next business venture will be pimping out my retro camper to take it all over town! And her name shall be called, “Billie”! My website is coming soon at www.PartyWat3r.com I am also working on a dope apparel line called “Social Introv3rt”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

The art of creating delicious, custom-crafted cocktails from all fresh and unique ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and herbs. I customize and curate one-of-a-kind mixes, which is what sets me apart from others in the market. My mixes are healthier too because I do not add artificial sugars, flavoring, and coloring. For example, a Party Wat3r margarita may have fresh chunks of aloe vera and juicy pineapple, then garnished with crisp cilantro and finally, accompanied by the best quality spirits–meaning top shelf ingredients only! I do not cut costs with my custom-crafted cocktails, and I want everyone to experience the taste of delicious and healthy libations! It’s so delicious that ONE SIP WILL MAKE YOU DIP! My signature flavors are Pineapple, Pomegranate Charcoal, Mango, Blackberry, and Strawberry. I believe in the superior quality of my libations, and I stand by them. Others have asked about my drive and vision for my company, and honestly, I do go through every type of emotion since it’s been a journey to get Party Wat3r started–but now I have a very loyal following asking about my upcoming events and my next, new concoction! Quitting is not even an option! One of the biggest lessons that I have learned along the way (besides having top-notch products) is: surround yourself with people who have a lot of experience in your industry and they are also willing to help you along your journey. I want to continue to learn and perfect my craft. My brand is all about creating amazingly fresh, custom-crafted cocktails with the best ingredients and to deliver great customer service!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, being that I love craft beer and love pairing it with delicious bar foods, whenever my best friend or cousin comes, we would have to hit up several microbreweries around the city of Atlanta. We would first start on the westside (which is the best side) at Wild Heaven West End Brewery & Gardens and order one of my favorites, Easy Ale. Then, we would visit Monday Night Brewing. Afterwards, we would go to Boxcar (which is right across the way) to grab some delicious white chili. Next, we would hit up Atlanta Brewing Company and partake on a beer tour to try several flight samples. There are so many other great places that I would like to give a shout out to and would encourage my out-of-town guests to visit such as New Realm Brewing, Reformation Brewery, Second Self Beer Company, Orpheus Brewing, Steady Hand Beer Company, Fire Maker Brewing Company, and the list goes on. We would definity experience the beer lovers life!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, all praises go to the Most High! My mother was the catalyst behind my entrepreneurial journey. All my life she has encouraged me to be my own boss. She had her own business while I was young so I had a role model in her. When I was in high school, I started to explore my entrepreneurial spirit. I dedicated myself to being the best candy girl during the week, which meant I would have to sell all varieties of candies to everyone at school. I became very persuasive and outgoing in order to make sales. I would also sell colored-contact lenses to the adult entertainers in my town city during the weekends. You can say I was pretty bold as an underage high schooler. I was not intimidated and built friendships with people from all walks of life. That formed my networking abilities as I entered into my undergraduate studies at Southern University and Morris Brown College. Years later in 2005, while in graduate school at Cambridge College in Massachusetts, I mastered the art of mixing drinks as a bartender. I was known as a “Libation Expert” and proud of it. After graduate school, I joined the white collar professional world as an educator and a software instructor for over a decade. I honestly was bored in those roles, and finally took a personal break. When I decided it was time to work again in 2018, I went back to my favorite job: as a bartender. That’s when I knew I had a gift for mixing drinks and creating fun, memorial experiences for everyone around me! I carried that same energy to incorporate my business in 2019, amplifying it by a thousand, and that was the birth of “Party Wat3r”!
