We had the good fortune of connecting with Gelato Pressure and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gelato, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
If you have any ounce of believe in yourself, being or becoming, a risk taker will be the most beneficial obstacle you could get over in this industry. Being a risk taker means you believe in yourself and you’re willing to bet on yourself. Once you’re able to do this, the universe is yours.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve learned so far on my journey that you cannot have expectations but you also have to have patience . Allow me to go into more detail about that so sometimes we might think that because things are happening for us now that it doesn’t mean it’s meant to be. Well, the more I learn patience the more I learn gratitude the more I am more appreciative of every opportunity good or bad that has crossed my path. I’ve been singing since I was a little girl I grew up in the church singing. It was a little hard for me too cross over to the R&B world just because the gospel music and worldly music don’t go hand-in-hand. I’ve learned to respect and travel the journey. I don’t have to be charity work, but I’ve learned that closed mouths. Don’t get fed and I have to have the same believe in me when someone’s telling me they don’t believe in me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well honestly, a chill day for me would be rolling up with some good gas go to one of my favorite Mexican places or either Mediterranean. Got a hit the mall after that maybe bowling or something that I have a drink while we’re bowling and then definitely roll up again and hit the studio.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It took me a little time to think about this question and be honest I never thought I would think these two individuals but I would have to think my mom and my dad. Both had me at 15 and never stepped out to be there for me. I had to learn a lot in life without a lot of questions be an answer for me. To be honest I feel like this is what made me a beast. This is a harsh industry and it can be cut throat so you cannot be weak and emotions.
