Meet Gavin Crusoe | Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gavin Crusoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gavin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Consistency is really the main factor, as well my style of shoot. I say those two because consistency was the thing that was setting me apart of a lot of upcoming shooters, Id do a photoshoot and the client would have their photos all edited back with 2/3 hours. Plus I would wake up everyday, and say how do I create content today if that’s sitting in studios for hours, to shows, parties, however I needed to get it I was there. My style of shooting speaks more than just a photo, you feel as well understand everything that is happening in front of you like you’re right there experiencing it yourself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My style of shooting is very grimey at times with my fisheye its a very bold and full frame photo that just pops and makes people feel everything that’s in front of them. It sets me apart from other shooters because it brings a element of street and looking through the glass look. What I’m most proud is helping put together Seddy Hendrix last music video “Lucky’ which was a huge honor. As well Putting cover arts together for groups like Dykingz, artist like S.U.R.F., Gabriel Avrett. Being able to capture photos of Atlanta Native Skooly, Noodah, Tony Shnow, Big WalkDog, To blogs like Trshmag , One More Time Podcast on events. But as amazing as its been it wasn’t easy, it took months of free work, texting 50/60 artists, and blogs everyday for months at a time. It took times of me doubting if I was good enough to make it in a industry where anyone and everyone can pick up a camera, and say I’m a photographer. I had to wake up and go to work at my 9-5 and breathe this, I had to work 12-13 hour days from my day job to at night hitting the scenes hard, 6 days a week to get where I am. Going into this I knew getting my foot in the door and making money was going be hard, but a name would be even harder. Thats what I wanted I love the art, and what I do I’m blessed to have made it this far in a short time. Its what I can say that I turned my true passion into art, I just happen to get paid for it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For food Colony Square for a nice vibe, as well Jacks pizza and Wings. If I’m finna quick Wings101, to have drinks the vortex as well Corner Tavern.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am with a group of people honestly, First my girlfriend who blessed me with my first camera that I still use to this day to take photos of biggest people and continues to encourage and help me see the growth in my work. Secondly my mentor Gary Dudley Visionz (Gdud), He’s shaped me and help me learn to shoot from my POV and what I feel. His biggest words that have forever stuck with me is ” Anyone can take a photo of someone, but can you touch and grab your audience with what you capture”. Thirdly Big Papito a well known Atlanta producer, songerwriter, as well artist. He was the first artist to give me a shot in the industry mix, having me capture his day to day life, and him being a previous shooter in his life we meshed and help me to maintain a nice color balance in my work. Lastly Florida artist Seddy Hendrix he brought me in team and saw the potential I had in my career in just a small time, and gave me a outlet/platform to show what I can do. But in my career I’ve had many people who I see as family to S.U.R.F, TrshMag, YoDogg and T4E I could go on forever.
