We had the good fortune of connecting with Gary Chichester and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gary, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
A few years ago, my wife was starting her own PT practice and in support of that, we created a workspace for her in our house. I wanted to her to have something inspiring in there and thought of Proverbs 31:25 – “She is clothed in strength and dignity, and laughs without fear of the future”, and made her a sign with that verse. I enjoyed the process of designing the sign and making it and she loved receiving it. So I started making signs as gifts for folks and it snowballed from there.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The things I get to make are personal. They are designs that are thoughtfully designed and made. I especially love custom orders as that’s when I get to really interact with people and gain an understanding of their vision to give them design options and eventually turn it into reality. Then I get to hear how something I made is a part of their story.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Taqueria Del Sol on Cheshire Bridge Road is my favorite lunch spot. The roof at Prince City Market is fun has awesome sunsets; PCM also connects to the Beltline.
Eclipse di Luna in Buckhead has the best mojitos.
Puttshack on Howell Mill Rd is an amazing indoor mini golf experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Heidi Chichester – my wife and greatest supporter. Also the Flow Inspirations Logistics Manager. I make the stuff, Heidi coordinates where it needs to go and how it needs to get there. I don’t have the organizational skills or attention span to do what Heidi does for our small business.
Clarissa Gibson- gave me an opportunity back in 2018 to start consigning items at The Gibson Co. Her belief and confidence and trust has provided the motivation to continue to grow our business and constantly step outside of our comfort zone.
