We had the good fortune of connecting with Garland Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Garland, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was to think and choose something that you love and have a passion for. Something you don’t mind doing for free if you had to. After that, research the industry and check your composition so you can see where you can make the most positive impact. Lastly, figure out the cost to start, whether for equipment, education, or supplies along with the time required to get your business in motion.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Where I am today, I got here through a lot of ups and downs, trials and fails, heartbreaks and motivation! It was nowhere near easy, I can say the most. I fell to a very dark place after I started my new journey. I had to take a step back and work on myself completely internally and externally. To be a better version of myself who under bad circumstances, I noticed I became a very negative person and I was effecting everything and everyone around me. I knew the reward was greater though, and I knew what I was going through was needed for my growth as a man. So I began to get more spiritual and get closer to god. I began to pray daily and focus on changing bad habits I had within myself. I also disconnected myself from the delusions of social media, the idea of having it figured out by 25, and worrying about what other people might say about me. Those things can really take a young person down mentally. Through it all I learned to “stay down” and embrace the struggle, however work hard everyday and your blessings will come when you are truly ready. Don’t fight Gods plan. And be positive and genuine, the fact we wake up every day is a blessing.
I want everyone to know that what you see is only the beginning of what I have to offer. I’m here to motivate and inspire people to live there best life and be a better version of themselves. I want my brand to impact thousands of lives in the community.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I would take them out to a place called the Beverly on glenwood ave in Atlanta. Some weekend nights they have a live band that places 90’s hiphop and r&b that is really good with great food & drinks! We definitely would have to hit up Slutty Vegan and get a tasty burger! Their atmosphere is unmatched , I love the energy they bring every day! Shopping at Lenox and perimeter mall along with a trip down to Centennial and Piedmont Parks. The city of Atlanta is beautiful to look at and admire.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I usually go through things in my life alone but there is one person that deserves a shoutout. My father Garland Sr deserves a lot of recognition! No matter good or bad he always was there to support with words of encouragement, knowledge and wisdom. He always believed that I could do anything and assured I belonged in every room I stepped in. From the time I decided to quit my stressful full-time to go back to school , he encouraged and supported me. Even in my darkest times he was there to help.
