We had the good fortune of connecting with Gable Eaton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gable, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Time and service. My thought process for my business centered around time and being of service. How could I free up my time to accomplish the goals I have set for myself to have the greatest impact on my family and community. From my observation the greater number of persons who own their own time are successful business owners.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
TeqTouch exist to provide products that are expressive and promote the safe and healthy interaction with personal and and public devices that require touch. UTouch, a wearable and washable tech is my first patented product to be released. TeqTouch sets itself apart by offering a product that is transformative as a branding tool across industries. As a former Marine, I am inclined to service and I am excited that my first product UTouch is one that serves a very basic utility, keeping people safe from germs. I am also excited about UTouch insomuch that it exist. I say this because, it is not an easy thing to bring a physical product to the market. I took the long way to the market and I say this because I did it backwards according to today’s ideal of doing business. What did I do? I created my product, built the tools, the website and the social media presence, then I went out and found a mentor and the business communities. Because I did it this way instead of the reverse: Mentors, business community, social media presence (to prepare and locate my market) then the tools and products. The lesson for me and others? Find the blueprint first, do not recreate the wheel. I overcame my backward method through persistence and because of my persistence, those around me gave me the constant encouragement that one needs to succeed. Not validation, but encouragement. What I would like others to know about my brand story is this, When you see TeqTouch and any of the products it creates, know that time, thought and the idea of service is poured into it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to The Slutty Vegan. Most are not vegans, but I believe they will enjoy this establishment. Another great experience I would want them to experience is The Roof at Ponce City Market. A good deal of my friends are entrepreneurs like myself. A visit to Atlanta would not be complete without visiting the historic landmarks such as the King Center. After visiting those centers, I think a visit to the Black Chamber of Congress would be a great stop to tie it all in.. now in your head, as with most .. you are probably thinking … the latter visits are pretty sobering and not much fun. Let me assure you, my friends know me and what I am about, with that said, come on.. the latter are day trips and the former are for relaxation and I would add, ending their visit with the Black Chamber of Commerce would just tie the visit all in for them.. where we’ve been as a people, how we have lived through it all with meetings to interact and finally, to see the building we are currently doing. A very well rounded experience for them.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Any amount of success I have achieve in life begins first with the love and wisdom my mother, Jean Evelyn poured into me. She more than anyone else prepared me to accept my gifts and blessings. I have been blessed with some great mentors starting with Renee Bobb, a phenomenal business mind, counselor and teacher. Just recently I have become a part of the Black Excellence Alliance under the stewardship of Dr. Dale Caldwell and the table he has prepared. Last, but not at all lease, I would like to give a shout out to Bunker Labs and the work their organization does to promote veteran entrepreneurship. Each one of these people and organizations have encouraged, assisted and promoted my thoughts and ideas.
