We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabi Chauta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in Kennesaw, Georgia. As a Kennesaw State University dance major and a teacher and choreographer, I feel as though I am consistently learning so much. Growing up, I would say that I had a late start to dance under the terms that most start at age three and I started at age twelve. Even though I started later on, my love for dance drove me to push myself to become a better dancer and catch up with those who had been dancing longer. It definitely wasn’t easy, but the hard work to get here was so worth it because of my love for dance, and the people who always supported me. A lesson that I learned along the way was to take in everything that you learn. The more classes you take, the more knowledge you have. I always think to myself to act like a sponge and absorb everything from each dance class that I take. Something I want the world to know is that we should always be striving to learn more. As a dance teacher, I still want to be in class, performing and educating myself so that I can continue to be a better dancer myself, and a better teacher for my students.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Personally, I would take them to a Kennesaw thrift store called Ecologie first. After some shopping, we would take a walk on Noonday Creek Trail, where I take my dog on a walk every week. Following that we would go eat at Kuroshio Sushi Bar and Grill, one of my favorites in Kennesaw. Then to end the day we would hike Kennesaw Mountain at sunset.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my family, my boyfriend, and all of the dance teachers that have gotten me to where I am today. Without your support, I wouldn’t be where I am today!
