We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabe Moskoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabe, what do you attribute your success to?
I’d say personally, the most important factor in my success was the fact that I was pursuing what I was passionate about every step of the way–I was willing to put in the extra hours and push past circumstances that would have made me think about changing my path if I wasn’t doing exactly what I wanted to be doing
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m really just a hip hop fan who somehow ended up touring with the best rap group in the world…I started DJing because I wanted access to the amazing selection of records at my college’s radio station (just as a listener), and my focus quickly turned to wanting to share the music I loved with other people. The grind from then to now wasn’t easy but it was always rewarding because I was immersed in the artform and culture I was obsessed with. I was never the most talented, but most of the opportunities I’ve gotten came from me pursuing them intensely, or from people being able to sense how genuine my passion was for what I was doing. I’m very fortunate to have ended up where I am in my career today but even if I didn’t get a fraction of the success I have I wouldn’t regret a thing because I was doing what I loved.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ll definitely dedicate this shout out to my guy Wes “Solo” Allmond, who we lost in 2020. He was a huge influence on my early DJ career in St Louis and a great friend.
