We had the good fortune of connecting with G. Eddie Patten, Sr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi G. Eddie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success and brand is remaining true to my creative and artistic eye.. In this industry (fashion, runway) it is easy to morph into what’s new, exciting or trending, however, I have found success is remaining uniquely you! Most people seek after my originality, rather than trends.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I see myself as a passionate artist! After many years as a keen amateur/enthusiast of photography, I decided to pursue it as a profession. Although a relative newcomer to the fashion industry, I immediately fell in love with its creative process, and before he knew it, realized that fashion was my true passion!

My passion is most aligned with “a love affair of the heart for beauty!” In a relatively short time, I have has earned the respect of artists, photographers, and celebrities alike. Photography is, no doubt, a natural extension of my passion for the arts. I focus not only on the client’s strengths; I hone in on any self-perceived weakness to create magic and increase my client’s confidence. Fashion is nothing more than “one being confident to express one’s self differently. The looks are beautiful in and of themselves; the model’s style, grace, elegance, masculinity, femininity, etc, brings out the true beauty of the piece on the runway or in print”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Given a week of peer freedom, I would certainly take my friends to the lake, the museums and parks. I often think that we place too much emphasis on partying and miss the history of our cities. For dining pleasure I would hit every mom and pop shop that has sustain our taste buds for decades. The most interesting places are those explored not because of viewers rating, but traversed for personal growth.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without hesitation my parents – the late Sterling and Mildred Patten. They instilled in me the work ethic to never quit, back down or feign from your God giving talent. They reminded me that what I do was “not for everybody” and that I should never focus on the negative.
