We had the good fortune of connecting with Fungai Katiyo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fungai, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I feel like success is something that can only be defined from within , I look at it like if I’m better than I was yesterday then I’m successful

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is me and an extension of myself in a way that if you wanted to know me all you have to do is press play , this is what DZ and Chapel Downs sounds like .growing up in a tough environment i thank music for keeping me on the straight and narrow unlike some people I came up with . The journey to this point has not been easy but definitely rewarding and I’m glad I can follow and also share my passion with the world at large.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im defiantly taking them to the studio to chill with the homies TK and Nasper , then the next move would be to stebees to get some snacks then lastly to FATS aka Friend tasty for the best chicken in the city better yet to my mums house because nothing beats home cooked meals

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As an artist I say shout out to every person who’s been on the journey with me , all the people I have encountered along the way and the people I’ve shared stages and moments with.
