We had the good fortune of connecting with Frenchye Bynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frenchye, what matters most to you?
A principle that I will never forget…or should I say the secret sauce to personal and professional success for me, is Consistency. I learned this from a mentor early in my career stage and this principle has crossed over into everything that I do. The great thing about Consistency is that you can consistently do something that has led to a positive outcome or realize a behavior that you are doing that is impeding on your success. No new skills are needed! If you’ve done it once, you can do it again! If you’re going to dedicate your energy, mind, time, enthusiasm, and intelligence into anything, just be consistent. Ever try to lose weight? Oh, just me…ok. If you start off on a healthy kick, but don’t consistently follow through every step of the way, you may lose a little but gain it back. Be who you are, follow through and be tenacious with achieving reasonable goals. There is no “be perfect” in this scenario, just be consistent and do what you say you are going to do. Find the sweet spot, get in that Kanye moment, do your thing and then do it again. I will always appreciate that simple message I received on that Monday morning, simply “Consistency is Key”.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Life had me on a totally different track 10 years ago. I was a pre-med student in St. Louis, MO. living life and letting my light shine in my drop-top sky blue BMW Z3. I have also worked hard and studied hard and already earned my marketing degree from University of Missouri- St. Louis. I grew up watching my Grandparents run a successful Funeral home in Savannah, GA and listened to all the patient stories my Dad told around the dinner table-endlessly. My father was a Doctor and held high expectations for his daughters, so I always felt pressure to perform well. I came from a family of successful business owners, educators and professionals and have never doubted my natural ability to hustle and succeed.
I entered Digital Marketing inadvertently actually, with a heads up on a new job that was hiring from a friend. I was able to make the in-person job fair and pushed and pushed until I got the job. I really needed that job. I was a new single mother and times were differently tough. Luckily, I do have quite the personality and learned to use it to my advantage. I became apart of a group of individuals that sold digital products to business owners to help them show up on the 3 major search engines and get found online. Soon, I became one of the best in the office for closing digital deals and began to dedicate my personal time to online learnings and trainings. I had a wonderful mentor who encouraged me and taught me the important principle of Consistency. Soon I was Certified in Google Ads, Yahoo-Bing Accredited and began “Blueprint” training for Facebook Ads (well before the era of IG). Things were great and then…
I lost my job as the company was sold and even though I was the top seller in the department 3 years straight, upper management hated me. Looking back, I can see why. Sometimes when leadership is miserable and unhappy with their current positions, they would rather sulk in their own despair than highlight those that are joyous and preforming well for the company. I was always too happy, too focused, too driven…really?
I soon transitioned to Jacksonville, FL where I began to work for Jacksonville.com under the USA Today umbrella. I was hired to bring some new energy and introduce the area to a newer digital division for Times Union Media, Localiq. As I learned more about my position and prospective clients, I noticed something very similar among both and staff and client base. Where was the diversity? Jacksonville Fl is a modern, southern melting pot and the businesses that continued to engage in marketing were always the same and looked unlike the diverse makeup of residents and businesses in the area. Was it strange that I was then given a territory that generally had a resident and business owner demographic makeup that looked like me to work? I’ll stop there; you get the point. The care and concern for these businesses weren’t genuine and the owners told me no one really cared, they just wanted a media sale and a check. Wow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh boy- we gotta hit the Beaches and find all the good Island eats! All the beaches, from Neptune beach down to the World Famous Daytona Beach will be laid and combed for shells (and nice looking fellas). I hope you like Latin food, because we have to find the Mr. Taco Food Truck, who is usually somewhere on beach blvd. We can hang out at Aroma’s cigar bar for some grown and sassy fun with R&B live music on one side and Reggaetón and Latin hip hop on the other. After that we can find the Sak Pase Food truck and have some bomb Haitian Food. Mid week, lets visit the murals at Toon Town, catch a Jacksonville Shrimp baseball game, shop at Town Center and finish the night at the Jacksonville Seafood Festival on Jax Beach. I would let you rest, but we’ve got to stop by Tenacity Blue Media at 10752 Deerwood Park Blvd, Jacksonville Fl 32256 to pick up a few things. Next off to Ponte Vedra to visit Millionaire’s Row and view the elaborate homes, as we enter St. Augustine’s Castillo de San Marcos and shopping followed by Puccini’s Pizza at Vilano Beach. Before your flight, I have to take you to the African American Heritage Trail, Civil Rights Memorial Landmarks in Jax and order some lunch from Jenkins Quality Barbecue. Call me when you get home, I’ll be at Grape and Grain Exchange enjoying Happy Hour!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mr. Brian Taylor, Owner of E67 Marketing Agency in Dallas, TX who spoke with me and decided to consult, engage, mentor and pray for me. Without Mr. Taylor’s intelligence, understanding, foresight and counsel I would not be nearly as knowledgeable as I am. He has been a true blessing and has spoken beyond that of a marketing professional and serial business owner but as a man of God and a true guide.
