Meet Franchesca Moultrie: Childcare Owner&Tax Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Franchesca Moultrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Franchesca, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have so many reasons on why I wanted to start my own business but the one reason that pushed me to move forward was my children. I was a single mother of two beautiful little boys at that time when my son was diagnose with (sickle cell).  This illness is very deadly and keeps my son in and out of the hospital and has so most of his life. As a mother it hurts that I can not help my son the way he needs me too. I remember thinking I will not be able to keep a job at this rate but my family will always come first.   One day when Da’vanta was in the hospital he ask can sponge bob come and visit with him? I replied by saying baby mama is going to see what she can do. I started to think to myself where am I going to get the money and how was I going to get sponge bob to visit my baby in the hospital?   Later that night while my son slept I started to do some research on where can I find characters and with no luck I decided to research on how to start a character business…. As I think back  I realize that my son was my inspiration for my first business  and because of this I called it Vonta’s Magical Moments. Funny how it’s the little things that can spark a big moment….
What should our readers know about your business?
To talk about my greatest accomplishment with Toddler Town Academy, I have to take you back to very 1st childcare center Little Feet Big Steps Learning. At the time I was only licensed for 28 kids, my childcare center was located in a low income neighborhood. I had a total of 4 employees at the time that was working for me.. Let me just tell you all of my employees was snakes ! Imagine you running a business and the whole time your employees trying to figure out how you can loose your childcare center. From inboxing messages to all your parents about you and the business , to calling the childcare investigator to your center and to calling the Food program on your program . So one day I was sitting in my small childcare center and I get a knock on the door from the Childcare Investigation Unit , at this time she walked in my office to follow up on her report that one of my employees called and made. She look me in my face and said these words to me “Bigger and Better things are coming your way” and that time I didn’t know what she really meant. Well after 30 days my husband told me to close the daycare down and move it to a place where good quality childcare centers are needed .. 60 days later that’s when I open the biggest childcare center in my area Toddler Town Academy I was then licensed for 87 Kids . My center was on a busy highway and it was the talk of the area.Everyone wanted there child to attend Toddler Town Academy. I’m saying all this to say God will make you uncomfortable to bring you to your vision .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The place we would visit is the Glam Shop of course we gotta get beautiful before we hit the city ,Then the next stop would be The Old Lady Gang!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I wanna give a shout out to LeTrionne who gave me the game to start my 1st Business Vonta’s Magical Momente . She owned a character business also in New Orleans . LeTrionne gave me her blueprint on how to start and operate a successful character business and for that I will always be grateful. 2nd I would like to a big thanks to Eno and Chrissy for giving me the game on how to run a successful tax office. This Business has allowed me to teach others on how to make extra income without leaving the comfort of your home. This is the blessing that keeps on giving. When I started in the childcare business there was so much I did not know. And in the childcare industry to fine someone to guild you though all the hiccups that comes with the business I would like to thank Natalie Moore one of my childcare coaches for walking me though a few hard times without viewing me as competition that pushed me into finding my current childcare center Toddler Town Academy! And with that said I wanted to give a bigger thanks to my staff at Toddler Town Academy thank you guys for helping to push my vision beyond what I did not think was possible. To all my family and friends I wish I could name all of you but it is with a grateful heart that I’m glad I can call you all my family and friends. Thank you guys for always having my back! To my biggest fan my wonderful husband Anderson… Thank you for believing in me when I felt like giving up. It was you and my children that gave me the strength to keep going. My best friend Miracle who owns and operates a successful childcare center in Houston Texas thanks for always helping me solve the problem..Blood couldn’t make us closer! To them we are best friends to us we are sisters we never had!! I’ve got to shout out my friend, Katrice Thompson, for bringing my name up in rooms where I am not present .We need people who always have us in the back of there mind when opportunities present .
