We had the good fortune of connecting with Fox Shante’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fox, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have been a creative my entire life. I don’t think I chose a career in the arts, I believe a creative career is choosing me. I’ve actually tried running from it, for years! I went to college and garnered a degree in Marketing from the University of Central Florida. I spent years working in corporate America, but I could never escape my souls yearning for contributing to the entertainment industry. Writing is my thing! Writing songs, scripts, motivational speeches, books. I just could never shake it. Like the late and great Whitney Houston once said “I can’t run from myself, there’s nowhere to hide”. So, no matter what your thing is, honor it, let it live, and the career attached to that divine gift will ultimately choose you.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started this journey writing songs. Music was definitely my first love. After quitting my job in marketing and moving to Los Angeles I had to find a new way. I worked in a major recording studio before doing a lot of background acting. It was during this time that I fell in love with being on set. It wasn’t until I moved to Atlanta however, that I realized I could write more than songs. I wrote my first short story “A Few Wrongs” and then decided to try my hand at writing scripts. I ordered books, watched videos, and studied the scripts of successful tv shows before writing my own.

I worked with two talented ladies (Tasha Gathers and Vivian Brazil) on a show they were producing for YouTube. I wrote a couple of episodes before the fire was ignited inside of me to create, write and develop a series of my own.

The entertainment industry is a very big business and I implore every creative to never forget to handle the business of their artistry. I knew that I would create, and produce many projects and I want to own them. This is what led me to start Yellow Fox Media. Yellow Fox Media is a production company that provides creatives, actors and crew of color with the opportunity to operate in their purpose while bringing a plethora of projects to life.

Writing the script for my first show (Relations: The Mini Series) was the easy part. Casting, coordinating the production, and pulling off a 10 episode mini series with a three man crew (@christrendin and @meishaderrick) was one of the hardest things I’ve accomplished. The process taught me a lot!

Lesson 1) Everything is a people’s business. Be good to people and you will win. Be honest, recognize people’s talent and respect peoples time. If you can lead in this way people will follow.

Lesson 2) Your team is everything so build a good one!

Lesson 3) Create a budget but don’t be cheap. Know when and where to cut corners without compromising value.

Lesson 4) Have fun and enjoy the moment

Yellow Fox Media works with brands and businesses to assist them in creating engaging content for their business. If you need a script written, social media calendar created, social media post ideas, media training, podcast production, etc, we will tailor make a content creation plan for you and your business. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I’m a mother of a very lively two year old girl. I don’t go outside anymore lol. Atlanta is a magical place filled with restaurants, clubs and experiences galore but….. I’d have to refer to someone else about where to have a good time. If Bestie wanted to eat some good BBQ I’d have to take her to Rickettes Famous Chicken and BBQ! It’s Chicago style bbq and it is literally the best chicken I’ve had here. We’d also stop by Gochas Breakfast Bar for breakfast and ask for Temika, she’s the best bartender popping.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my support system. I have been blessed enough to experience true love my entire life. My family, friends and now my Husband and daughter provide me with the type of love that makes it okay for me to not only dream big, but to chase those big dreams. They believe in me and in turn I am able to believe in myself. So Mommy, Daddy, Aunty Vickye, Uncle Jeff, Granny, Grandma, Shantalae, Angel, Stephen, Ashley, Tish, Mama Nae, Shawn (my amazing husband), and Legacy (my phenomenal daughter) Thank you all!

Huge shout to the entire cast of Relations: The Mini Series and the amazing crew (@christrendin and @meishaderrick) that worked tirelessly to complete that project!

And last but certainly not least big shout out to @Tashafrom4thward 🕊️ Love you girl 🙏🏾
