We had the good fortune of connecting with Forrest Tuff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Forrest, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factors behind my success are my Faith, Family, and Fearlessness. My belief in God, ethics and morals help guide my actions. The love and respect of my family gives me purpose and the motivation to stay focused. My proactive exploration of new ventures and ability to overcome obstacles has enabled me to achieve my goals.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a creative storyteller and savvy business man that enjoys helping others. I started One Vision Productions with a goal to share each clients story in a manner that was not only relatable but branded to their organization’s vision and mission. Today, our clientele ranges from small businesses and government agencies to Fortune 100 corporations and has been named one of Atlanta’s “Best and Brightest” Companies to Work For. On the creative side, I’m a children’s author and producer. My book, “Things I Like 3-D”, was inspired by my daughters. When they were younger, I’d tell them imaginary bed-time stories and they would say, “Dad you should write a book!” Well, I did and TIL3D earned me a nomination for the Georgia Author of the Year Award. I’m also an independent film and television producer that strives to create content that will entertain, teach and inspire. I coined the term FILMPRENEUR™ to brand myself as someone that is highly creative and proficient in business. As a self-taught, multi-award-winning writer, producer, director, cinematographer and editor, I’ve created commercials, documentaries, indie films, music videos, television shows and worked on a major motion picture with Twentieth Century Fox. My hope is to continue the legacy of great black entrepreneurial filmmakers such as Oscar Micheaux, Spike Lee and Tyler Perry. Looking to broaden my storytelling repertoire, I joined Toastmasters International. This amazing organization’s program has been monumental in my public speaking and leadership development. Their in-person and virtual club meetings provide a safe environment to practice and after a few years of intentional effort, I became a Distinguished Toastmaster (highest level). Now a professional speaker, certified business coach and member of the National Speakers Association, I’ve given hundreds of presentations and mentored thousands of youth, aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners countrywide. In addition, I am honored to be recognized as one of Atlanta’s 500 Most Powerful Leaders in 2021. Here’s my thoughts on setting and achieving goals. There will be good and bad times but DO NOT QUIT! As you develop an action plan, don’t forget to develop a contingency plan as well. As the late great Benjamin Franklin once stated, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start with breakfast at Buttermilk Kitchen and then take a glide down the belt line, Next, we’d shoot a couple of rounds at Mainstreet Guns & Range in Tucker before heading to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. Afterwards, we’d go back to my house, shoot some pool and relax for a few hours. Later that night, we’d check out Top Golf and see where it goes from there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents have been the biggest influence in my life. They have been great examples of God-fearing, good-natured people that served their community. These attributes helped me to understand the importance of putting God first and giving back. They taught me how to be a leader and persevere. My wife and daughters are my WHY. My wife has unquestionably supported me and is truly my best friend. My daughters help me stay grounded and are my inspiration. They motivate me to become a better version of myself and live a life that they can admire.
