We had the good fortune of connecting with Focus Theartgod and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Focus, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the main factors behind my success & the success of my brand would be authenticity !
With the photography scene being so oversaturated at the moment, it’s super hard to stand out but, I feel like I achieved that. Especially with my style of artwork & being able to take 1 image & turn it into something spectacular. Originality will always stand out in the end.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So, what I think sets me apart from others is my mind itself. Being able to take inspiration from just about anything & applying it to my art pieces. It can be a shoe string or something said in a song , anything ! If it fits what I’m trying to portray in an image I’m going to use it.

What I’m most proud of is being able to have my work all over. My work has been/is on storefronts, magazines, bookstores , libraries, multiple billboards , restaurant menus, time square multiple times, ect… It wasn’t an easy journey either ! Trails & tribulations is definitely a real thing you guys lol but, I think if there weren’t any challenges along the way those wins you get along the way just wouldn’t hit the same as they do when you know things weren’t all peaches and cream. You overcome those challenges by not giving up & taking all the necessary risk you need to take & always bank on yourself at the end of the day. If there’s anything I’d like the world to know about myself is that the mind is a very powerful tool & I’m trying to use every bit of it. Anything is possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m really a home body for real, but if I were to make an itinerary I’d say try out this place called ” The Works”. You got your variety of foods, you got your drinks , a great vibe really. I’d say the same for ponce city market as well. I’d also say go to Arabia Mountain and just walk the trails , I love a good trail and nature walk. I don’t do too much clubbing so, I can’t really help the viewers with that one , lol.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I’d like to shoutout myself for taken a RISK on myself & believing myself. I’d also like to thank every single person I’ve ever worked with in my 13 years of creating. Even the squirrel’s and birds who let me shoot them when I first started out just practicing the craft lol ; can’t for get my parents & friends as well !
