We had the good fortune of connecting with Floyd “Tre” Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Floyd “Tre”, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Greenville, MS better known as the Delta of Mississippi. I am very proud to be from that city as well. We are not a high profile city but that is because a lot people have not had the chance to see the jewels that have been molded there. Greenville is a small city but everyone knows everyone almost. I always felt that my city needed a spark of hope and healing to see how valuable its surrounding is to the natives of that community. I was thankful to live in a home with both parents which both installed wisdom in me from different aspects of life. My dad taught me street sense while my mother prepared me with education sense. I took both of those aspects to be able to maneuver through this thing called life. I truly believe I am the voice for the voiceless and the message that God has given me is to be sound voice. I hope that when the person who has been waiting to see if superman is really real, when they see me that they know anything is possible, especially when God is guiding the direction.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do not believe anything worth it in life comes easy. Sometimes you have to feel the pressure so that you can cherish the shine of the diamond once it’s all said and done. My wish was to bring forth healing in every aspect that I could. The clothing line, speaking engagements, and the music. I believe everyone wants to connect with people in some kind of way with their art. My hope is that me being willing to be vulnerable and transparent creates a bridge to someone else healing. It is a lot people dealing with the same self inflicted/life inflicted wounds, but no one likes to share their process. So being a creative mind I decided to use that in my gifts. I would love to see healing happen world wide spread, but it also begins where I am planted. So that starts with me and my community. I do not care about being the greatest rapper of all time or the greatest speaker of all time as much as I care about being the greatest philanthropist of all time. I learned through life that Jesus offers healing but it begins when we start to accept the revealing process. Sometimes it takes you going back to the root just to be able to establish new beginnings. No matter your age, new beginnings are possible for you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This would be simple for me, I would take them right over to my grandmother house on Clay St. I call this the Mecca of my Hometown. Its in the right location with the right people. At this spot you will get all you were bargaining for, that would be soul food, laughter, joy and the true aspect of family. If the right type of music is played you also will get a good show as well. We come from the blues and gospel, so either of those genres get played than the party starts to move. The party literally will start in the AM to the next AM. Every piece of who I am is found in that place and the people inside of it as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I truly have to shout out to God for the vision and purpose. My support group is very strong so it would be hard to single just one group or person out but I would like to spotlight my wife, Whitney Lee. She encourages me when it comes to the visions that I have towards our business and even music. Her passion for mental health in black community is just as high as mines. When starting our business, Honesty Brings Healing, I came to her with the little funds that I had and told her that I was investing in to this clothing line that would bring awareness to mental health. She did not hesitate to give me her full support. Her vision towards this business is not just clothing but actually creating programs that will be able to be placed in low poverty areas to be able to gain the mental support needed. She is my rock, so shout out to her for being my superhero!
