We had the good fortune of connecting with Flamenca Bohème and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Flamenca, what principle do you value most?
There are many values that I consider important and apply in every aspect of my life, If I have to choose only one that goes hand in hand with what I do would be the value of freedom. The kind of freedom that is respectful and aware of not harming anyone with my actions, of living authentically. This autonomy over my imagination and creativity allows me to freely express what my soul desires by shaping stories through my pieces. These pieces become instruments to connect and inspire others to live in the essence of their freedom.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Tell me more about your art. The name Flamenca Bohème refers to a brand of handcrafted jewelry and accessories blended with a bohemian and flamenco flair. My art is unique, irreverent, chic, colorful with a lot of creativity, spirituality, personality and “flamencura” (word from flamenco slang, refers to the feelings and abilities that are expressed in all forms of this art, we could apply then this definition outside of flamenco, as the “attitude” we have in our lifestyle).
When creating, I enjoy mixing materials of different textures, colors and styles. I use characteristic elements of different cultures, mystical and unusual. Each piece is made taking care of every detail, the time that takes me to finish them depends on the design, at least 2 hours or sometimes several days pass between one process and another.
It is aimed at anyone who wants to elevate their attitude, stand out and show their authenticity. And to the bailaoras, I offer versatile and modern pieces that accentuate their magic on and off stage.

What sets you apart from others?
Flamenca Bohème is a symbol of uniqueness and sets apart from others because what inspires me to design and create comes from very personal places like my soul, imagination and memory. I am inspired by life itself, colors, nature, love, emotions, and my perception of it is reflected in my pieces. My inspiration also comes from very personal experiences, traditions and beliefs such as those I have for having grown up between two cultures (Venezuelan-Italian), as well as the knowledge of many others from different countries where I’ve lived and traveled around the world, those stories are told in each piece.
That is why each design is unique, a work of art that reflects my passion, personality, taste and history.

What are you most proud of or excited about?
I am proud of my creative and transformative attitude towards any situation in life, just like my talent, I sat down one day as a little girl exploring and discovering that I was able to create these beautiful things full of heart. I saw that others were moved when they saw them and wanted to have them as well, That has been wonderful for me. I am proud that I started creating earrings and I have already made different accessories such as necklaces, clothes, canvas and other items to decorate spaces. Now I cannot see any object simply as it is because my mind begins to imagine how I can embellish or transform it.
I’m also proud to see that my pieces have reached well-known dancers, receive custom orders from actresses and see them show off my art for their covers or media tours, I’m proud and grateful when I receive messages from customers thanking me because they feel beautiful and confident breaking the mold wearing my jewelry.
It excites me to continue discovering new things to create and share, contributing to the world with inspiration, touching more hearts and drawing smiles, spreading love, awareness and good vibes. To allow people experiencing other cultures and showcase the art of Flamenco in my own way through my designs.

How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
I started building the brand in 2017, one year after I arrived in the USA and it became my new place of residence. It started in a very intuitive, meditative and therapeutic way (it still is). At that time I was in that state of limbo and a waiting period, part of the process of emigrating. The earrings were the first pieces I made, with the intention that they would serve me to dance flamenco as well as for my boho-chic style daily outfits. Unexpectedly, strangers on the street started asking me where they could buy them, that they had never seen anything like that before. I received many positive and wonderful compliments, then I received my first orders from the small circle of girls I barely knew in the city. All of this motivated me to formalize the brand to offer my work to the world.
I have come here trusting in my talents and qualities, being aware also of my weaknesses being patient and consistent. It has been easy in the sense that I am clear with my purpose and I am flowing through it, I am not in a hurry to get anywhere. What has not been easy is that as an immigrant it becomes more challenging to know the “where”, “how” and “with whom” to do those things that are necessary as an entrepreneur. I believe searching always finds and life shows and gives us what we need to grow and move forward.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Absolutely everything since day one has been life lessons, but there is one in particular that I would like to share is that we as human beings are designed to be and do what we desire and wherever we want, there are no limits to reinvent or transform ourselves.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I would like the world to know that Flamenca Bohème goes beyond being a brand of spectacular pieces that adorn the person or pop out our outfit. They are magical instruments made with the intention and purpose of raising the frequency, accentuating the attitude and light that we all have, elevating the self-esteem to make feel confident, free and happy to the person who wear them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the Belt Line passing by Ponce City Market and Krogs Market in both there are many options to eat, drink and have a very nice time. Piedmont Park is a must, have a picnic with a view of the city, walk and take photos around the iconic Centennial Park.
Visit the High Museum of Art, look for an artist market so they can take home souvenirs from the city made by local artists.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In no particular order, I would like to express my gratitude to God-Universe for that powerful energy that I personally believe makes everything possible. To my daughter my #1 fan, to all my customers those wonderful souls who connect with the brand and rock amazingly my pieces. To the stores, markets and shows that give me a space to show my art, to the photographers, magazines, models, bailaoras (flamenco dancers) and other artists who collaborate with me and have featured my work. To family, friends and all those who in some way have been present and supported THANK YOU! Even those who told me “No” I also value and appreciate it, since those rejections have helped me to know what to improve and have shown me the correct path to follow… Thank you all!
