We had the good fortune of connecting with Finichia Hoskins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Finichia, what’s your definition for success?
I define success by having your purpose and passion in alignment. I don’t think one can exist without another. If they are in alignment not only will you be fulfilled, you will have joy in what you are doing, drive to keep doing it and the blessing from God covering you while you do it..

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have a private practice that provides speech and language services to children who are developmentally delayed and who have Autism.. I also relaunched my digital brand Fancy Curves in which i am able to express my two passions fashion and faith.

I am proud of the lives Speech Works has changed over the past 15 years. It is extremely fulfilling to know I’ve played a key part in helping so many children and families.; not just with communication skills but as an overall resource. Over 50% of he children that come though my door have undiagnosed Autism . I am grateful to be able to helps parents identify this so that they can fully understand what’s going on with their child and the next steps to take to set their child up for success. These types are resource and knowledge are not given to “us” especially in the low income areas in which I serve.

I got to where I am today by grace, and hard work,. It has not been easy and I have experienced several challenges in 15 years (Insurance companies going bankrupt and not reimbursing, unwarranted audits, loss of revenue, restructuring to teletherapy and losing half my caseload bc of the pandemic) but through it all and God’s grace He keeps covering me..

It has NOT been easy. Even now trying to restructure and also manage Fancy Curves is extremely challenging, but I continue to push through. I’ve learned time management is important, having a routine. And taking time to rest when you are burned out and most importantly fasting and praying. Staying aligned and getting what I don’t have from the main source..

I want people to know that nothing worth having is easy and success isn’t easy. The trials you go through are to refine you and prepare you for what God has for you. Learn from your mistakes. I’m still in this process. Trust in Him. Stay the course.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love an experience and vibe. I would take them to dinner at the garden room, find a nice roof top, go to the belt line or Ponce City and definitely find a nice spot for Sunday brunch. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My beautiful circle of friends who are always encouraging me, my pastor Louie Giglio, and other digital influencers who constantly inspire me to level up.
