Meet Felipe Morales | Dancer / Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Felipe Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Felipe, how do you think about risk?
In the art industry, I believe taking risks is one of the most important things—trying new approaches and being even a little unconventional. Ever since I started my dance career, I’ve realized that while talent and discipline are essential for growth, being bold and taking risks—not just with your art but also with your look and style—is what truly captures people’s attention.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe that in a creative and artistic industry, there is no finish line when it comes to your training and goals—there’s always more to learn and room to grow. I still have big dreams to pursue and goals to achieve, but I’m definitely proud of everything I’ve accomplished so far, especially knowing how much effort and risk it took to get where I am today. Moving to an entirely new country and starting a dance career at what’s considered a ‘late’ age has built a lot of resilience in me. It’s also given me the tools to develop greater confidence, even though that’s something I continue to work on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start by taking them to the BeltLine for a walk, stopping for coffee and local art along the way. We’d spend a day exploring the historic Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park and nearby Sweet Auburn district. Of course, we’d visit the High Museum of Art and check out a show at the Fox Theatre one evening. I’d plan a picnic at Piedmont Park with skyline views and maybe rent bikes around the area. One day would be dedicated to the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Ponce City Market for shopping and rooftop fun. We’d make time for brunch spots in Inman Park, grab late-night bites on Buford Highway, and maybe end the trip with a hike up Stone Mountain for a sunrise view. A perfect mix of culture, nature, and good food!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I’m truly grateful to Peridance, the dance school I attended in New York City. It’s been an incredible place to find amazing classes, lifelong friends, and inspiring mentors. Thanks to Peridance, I had the opportunity to start studying under one of the greatest mentors I’ve had in my career—Kendrick Samuel. He’s an incredibly talented dancer, choreographer, and director from New York City. I’ve not only trained under him but have also had the chance to work with him on multiple projects, both as a dancer and by assisting in the creative process. He has been a huge inspiration and a role model for the kind of career I want to continue building.
