We had the good fortune of connecting with Felicia Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felicia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The concept of Beauji Brown Girl was born from a powerful vision that ignited within me two years ago. This vision was to spearhead a movement empowering black women to shatter societal stereotypes (especially the constricting “strong, independent black woman” narrative) and instead cultivate an authentic, luxurious lifestyle that celebrates softness, self-care, and mindset shifts towards embracing the lifestyle they secretly yearn for and genuinely deserve. Through this brand, I aspire to catalyze a worldwide shift in how black women are perceived, esteemed, and enabled to thrive in their lives.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work with Beauji Brown Girl centers around empowering black women through self-care, authenticity, and luxury lifestyle experiences. What sets me apart is my dedication to creating a holistic space that fosters cultural empowerment and wellness tailored specifically to black women’s needs. I take pride in the brand’s mission to redefine societal norms and narratives concerning black women.

My journey to this point has been filled with challenges that tested my resolve. It was not easy, but through perseverance I overcame obstacles and continued to pursue my vision. The lessons I’ve learned include the importance of staying true to my purpose and seeking growth opportunities in every setback.

What I want the world to know is that Beauji Brown Girl is more than just a brand—it’s a movement dedicated to elevating the well-being and empowerment of black women globally. My story is one of determination, passion, and a commitment to reshaping the narrative for black women, empowering them to live authentically and joyfully.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My besties (I have two of them) don’t have to visit because we’re all right here in Atlanta. We are Atlanta natives, Southern belles through and through! A week of fun for us would be filled with lots of laughter over soul food at spots like Mary Mac’s Tea Room and The Southern Gentleman.

We’d soak up the city’s beauty at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and get our steps in over girl talk while strolling the Atlanta BeltLine.

We love the arts, so we would definitely grab tickets for a show at the Fox or Alliance Theatre, and load up our lawn chairs to jam to some good 80s and 90s R&B at an outdoor concert.

Besides being the “Queen of Self-Care” I’m also the “Queen of Karaoke”, so a night at Mics Karaoke is a must!

To wrap up the week, we’d brunch at West Egg Café and treat ourselves to a luxe pampering session at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, because we’re beauji so why not indulge in a little self-care?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout all the brave women who have entrusted me over the years with their stories, expressing their weariness and discontent with conforming to a life dictated by societal norms that stifle their authenticity and true happiness. Their journeys, intertwined with my own, is what drives me to unite our voices for change.
