We had the good fortune of connecting with Fara Charles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fara, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always been a risk taker but I was also very selective about the risks I’d take. When I started #TFCP (@tfcp.x) it was just supposed to be a one time thing to see if I could even produce and direct a fashion show period. After the outcome of that one show, I went into full overdrive with the project! I saw how many ppl I inspired, how many lives changed, how many ppl gained confidence and much much more! I started these shows in Hollywood, Florida and things were going great but I get bored very quickly. I’m also very popular in the local fashion community and have a lot of networks I can connect with all over America! So, I decided to take advantage of my links and do my first show in Atlanta in 2017! What a show!! It was amazing 6/7 designers featured, a roster of 25+ models, poets performing and recording Artists were featured as well! I was so proud of myself and my team!! S/o to Queen (@queeniedotcom) & Ebony (@gloriflyy) for holding me down in the ATL! With the success of that show and the high it gave me knowing I went to a whole other state with TFCP (The Fara Charles Project) and it was a major success I decided next stop, New York for NYFW! Now this risk was nerve wrecking and gave me anxiety out the ass! You know NY, is the fashion capital and to have my show along with the other 1000 fashion shows (that were being promoted at the same time) I definitely didn’t expect the outcome I got for this project at all!! The show was in Downtown Brooklyn at the Amaruchi Lounge, we had about 9/10 designers being featured, 4/5 performers performing a roster of 50+ models!! It was incredible truly life changing!! Enough to make me say I’ll never quit on this show or myself! S/o to my sugar plums Kashandra (My besty), Fu (@Flyboyfu) and Ashley (@ashleysliving__) my NY TEAM! Since then I’ve done 5 shows in Florida (1 virtually due to COVID-19 not to mention I was 6 months pregnant) 2 in Atlanta and 2 in NYC FOR NYFW!! Taking these risks really showed me that if you truly put your mind to what you want (as cliche as this sounds) ignore the hate and naysayers, and focus on your goal … anything is truly possible! My next stop is Cali w/ my @TFCP.x TOUR! Mark my words… I’m going going, back back to Cali Cali!! Word to Biggie #RipKing

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to think of myself as a visual artist aka creative director! I LOVE TO CREATE! My favorite part is seeing everything come together in the end. It’s like, it just started as a thought and now it’s a whole production … HOW FUCKIN AWESOME IS THAT! It wasn’t always easy because not everyone Is going to believe in you (sometimes it’s the closest people to you) some are gonna try to stare you in a different direction or even talk you out of doing what you want to do! (just to try to do it themselves) DON’T LET THEM! Don’t let them place their fears on you! You be great trust me they’ll either keep hating or join you later (if you let them)! I am where I am because I never gave up and I gave everyone a chance not just the people w/ the big following or clout and think people respect that shit A LOT! I truly believe that’s what sets TFCP apart from any other production. The world should know that we’re here to stay and we’re definitely taking this show internationally so WORLD GET READY!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well our first stop for sure would be: Slutty Vegan … then Little 5 points I just love that area, after the trap museum or the aquarium! Gotta hit a strip club it’s Atlanta for god sakes!! Eat dinner at Gladys knight chicken and waffles (I think that’s the name) just because it’s like a landmark! And end the night off in somebody’s nightclub cuz Atlanta definitely has one of the best night lives EVER!! Compound, gold room, opium somebody’s club! …. oh wait can’t really end a night without a trip to Waffle House 5:30 in the morning 😂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to S/o my children SATYA, Legend and Epic! I don’t think I’d be this motivated or focused if it weren’t for my kids! They force me to understand generational wealth is so important for my family and my children! Yours too! Being able to give my kids a head start in this life as Black young adults is so important and can change so many obstacles standing in their way!
