We had the good fortune of connecting with Faith Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Faith, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think about risks, I think about the consequences that may potentially come from it. When constructing a blog such as Seasonal Shiftings, I understand that my willingness to be open to the public comes with a risk because of my vulnerability. There are times where I have to be transparent on a certain topic and it may alter the way that people view me or my experiences. There will be a lot of feedback that some people may not like because of what I am open to share with the public and of course disappointment comes with that in some ways but sometimes I have to risk it all for myself, just so people who may be experiencing the same unfortunate circumstances as me, simply gives them the courage to know that they are not the only ones that may be going through it, Although I haven’t made any significant risks yet, I am still learning in the process of it all.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Seasonal Shiftings is a blog about how I personally experience the shifts in my life and the way that I am able to move forward and adjust to where I am placed. I am extremely proud of myself when it comes to my website, because this website was not planned at all! It was more so one of things that I impulsively did one day after doing some research and I have been consistent ever since I created it, now it has not been one of the easiest journeys that I have been on simply because as a creator, sometimes I just have no content but have to be consistent because I know there are people who faithfully read what I talk about and give feedback. During the couple months of doing this, I have learned that sometimes I can’t always stick with new trends to get a different audience but to let how I feel come from the heart. I’ve also learned that not everyone will acknowledge or even like my content, but as long as I am satisfied with my own work, that is all that matters. I have to be confident in what I publish regardless if people like it or not.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some interesting things that I usually check out here in my city is a local coffee shop, called Iron Bank, it is also the place where I get a lot of work done as well as enjoying the scenery nearby,
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I honesty give a huge amount of the credit and recognition to God. Without him, I would be nothing. As numb as I was to a lot of my emotions, God laid on my heart at a dark time to start Seasonal Shiftings and make the background of this blog about my testimonies and the everlasting favor and love that God gives to us daily. Secondly, my family who always allowed me to be transparent and go after whatever I dreamed about no matter the feedback that I may receive along the way and finally, my closest friends, who always encouraged me to be the better version of myself despite of how I felt during the time and still now continue to uplift and motivate me as well as contributing to a lot of the new ideas and creations that may come along my way.
