We had the good fortune of connecting with Fagan Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fagan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up, both my parents had creative careers. My mom is a decorative artist and my dad is a charter captain. So, naturally I grew up with creative hobbies like painting, theater, and even got a camera for Christmas one year. However, I never thought that I would start my own company where I would get to take photos and capture peoples most special moments and call it a job. My future sister in law is also a wedding photographer and invited me along with her to be her second shooter one day. I absolutely fell in love with it – the people, the energy, the love that encompassed that entire day. And now, I own my own photography company where my Saturdays are mostly spent capturing peoples love and I would not have it any other way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Middle, GA. I am originally from St. Simons Island and so a lot of my clients reside there and I find myself traveling a lot. I love the coastal atmosphere and am so thankful that my job brings me back down there.

My name has always been something that defines me “Fagan.” It is not a name you hear often and I find that most people remember it even from years ago. I wanted to use that to create my brand because my personality as Fagan Kennedy is what I also bring to my business. I love making people feel included, important, and empowered. I have created a brand that does that and I think the only way to truly know that is to experience it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ahh! This is fun. So its a sunny day in the spring… We would get up and go to Buttermilk Kitchen in Sandy Springs – drink iced coffee, eat a skillet, a biscuit and head back to Brookhaven for the farmers market on Dresden Drive. We’d walk around the shops and eat a late lunch at Verde. We’ll start with the trio of salsa, guac, and queso and then a buffalo chicken quesadilla and of course a spicy margarita. After this, we’ll hop in an uber and head to Truist Park to watch the Braves play and dance the night away at the Battery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Anna Antley – @annaantley.co

Now, my almost sister in law! Anna invited me to shoot a wedding with her and I fell in love with it. I was dating her little brother at the time and now we are engaged. Anna has captured all of our special moments.
