We had the good fortune of connecting with Everton Williams Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Everton, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work life balance has definitely become better since becoming an entrepreneur full time. Although I may have some longer days I am now able to make time be more involved in my daughter’s school activities or any of her extra curricular activities. That was one of the most important pieces for me going into business for myself to have more time for her.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a Junk Removal and hauling business. I started the business in 2020 part time and just over the last year. I’ve been able to do it full-time. I enjoy what I do because they’re plenty of financial gains in each job. For example, some homes or businesses have items that I’m even able to resell. It’s funny I got into this business. I was working at a medical equipment office doing deliveries, and every day there was a gentleman who came to pick up the scrap metal in his truck and trailer. One day I decided to ask him what the minimum was a day on the average that he made picking up every once scrap and he told me 250 minimum. Immediately after I jumped on Facebook marketplace, found a trailer for purchase and went and finance a truck. I purchased the trailer for five grand and within the first month I had already made my money back from what I spent on the trailer. The business does get challenging from time to time where the phones not ringing, but after you go through that first depression stage , you fight through and find way to market better And reach more clients. The biggest lesson that I have learned is just to stay consistent And disciplined. On those slower days it’s definitely easy to feel like giving up. The most difficult situation I have dealt with so far in this business is Having to clean hoarder homes. Exactly how it’s viewed on television is exactly how it is in real life. The termites, the roaches, the rats, the ants, the spiders you name it is all running across your feet just trying to get around in the homes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wynwood Art District in Miami is where I’d take my friend coming to visit. It doesn’t matter if your into sneakers, poetry, art, cars, clubs or just looking for a good taco wynwood has it all

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my brother Adrian. He believed in my vision and helped me out financially with getting my business started.
