We had the good fortune of connecting with EVANS EDWARDS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi EVANS, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Success to me is the ability to believe in yourself enough. That your willing to risk it all for the reward at the end. My overall success, as a hairstylist, came from me truly walking in my gift and studying every aspect of my craft. My brand “THE TRESTYLEZ EXPERIENCE” is just that an experience. Every woman will be taken into a new dimension with guides of my hands. That’s what it’s about as a hairstylist. It’s creating an unforgettable atmosphere and experience. In everything you do. Be about the details.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the hair industry I’m known as “trestylez” one of the top hairstylist in Atlanta. Off the stage. I’m Tre, who at the tender age of 10 sparked my interest for hair. I’ve always had a passion for beauty in every aspect from hair, fashion, makeup and the list goes on. I may even teach a few spins on the runway “okay” lol. Hair though has taken me to places I never imagined. I knew I had a special gift within my hands, because I always had natural talent as a child. Funny story. As a little boy I would steal my sisters dolls and tranformed their hair and look. Into Artist that inspired my hair journey like Janet Jackson, Madonna, Tina Turner. Ladies that didn’t play about their hair and always evolved. Hair was my escape from so many of life’s hurdles. It kept me focus and driven. While many in their 20s ran the streets and ran the world. I was all in my career head first. I’ve hustled from dust to dawn on the Southside of Atlanta. In an urban area. Where there is a salon on every corner, but I stood apart from many, because of my integrity as an artist and my professionalism. Truly giving my clients my all. Being a master of my craft. The hair industry owes me nothing. If it’s pertaining to hair. Trestylez has done it. Clock that tea. Lol. One of my biggest blessings in hair was the opportunity to be a reality star on WeTvs “Cutting It In the Atl” season 2. It gave the world the introduction to Trestylez. Which to this day. I still get stopped by people. Just telling me you made me laugh. As a gay Blackman you inspired me. The list goes on. In the toxic world we live in. The best remedy is to bring laugher and joy to a persons life. WeTv changed my life and took my business to higher heights. It made me realize. What’s yours Is Yours, and can’t nobody take that from you. Believe in yourself and never take your foot off your own neck. I believed. I was a star and I’m still sparkling. 20 years now in the game and I’m not stopping.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If anyone knows about Atlanta. One thing that your going to have is a Time. Atlanta to me is an entrepreneurs dream. You can come here and be whatever or whoever you want to be. You can explore the many amazing things that Atlanta has in-store. From shopping at Lenox mall for some of your luxury expenses. Strolling through Piedmont Park for great festival and music events and of course the food. I’m a foodie at heart, so bigback is my name. 3 of my top favs is The Optimist. Arnette’s Steak House and Yebo beach house which has become one of my favorites because of the vibe and the chefs twist on African and Mediterranean cuisine. Atlanta is a place of southern hospitality and charm. Leaving you with wanting more. Don’t forget when ordering wings to ask for lemon pepper wings with extra sprinkles. An Atlanta thing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My special shoutout is to my mother (Pamula Edwards). Who I can say played a very instrumental role in who I am today. Especially as an entrepreneur. Having had her own business “Edwards Academy”. She showed me the blueprint to business 101 and how it’s important to keep your integrity and professionalism as #1 in your business. Especially as a black business owner. How also. It’s important to invest in your business and always take a risk on YOU.
