Meet Evan Wheeler | Entrepreneur, Activist, Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Wheeler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evan, how do you think about risk?
I believe risk taking is one of the most important falsely stigmatized negative in business. I say that because risk is always attached to growth whether the risk is success or fail because you earn either way in a failure you’ve earn experience what not to do again & where to reinforce bug in a success you earn more money, exposure, and confidence. Risk has played a major role in my life putting myself out there in the business world because to walk away from traditionalwork the 9-5 comfort in with life trains & personal life as well as far as networking and allowing other people in my space/brain trust.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an entrepreneur but I like to refer to myself as a creative because my independence/liberation started with me first creating articles & poetry. Even in a space where creativity & perception were a given I faced adversity being told my work articles/arts were aggressive and suggesting we revolt again white oppression & social norms and I asked is this not the time to spark the culture? I was then asked to change my style or I could find another magazine and I did not just as a writer but a partner Purposely Awakened Magazine that had more freedoms, responsibilities, and helped to develop a solid well rounded team that continues to push out great content. I’ve also worked on a documentary Higher Love as a field producer which is out on multiple platforms which intrigued me enough to pursue a career & join the UnskryptedTV as a contentcurator and soon to be executiveproducer. I’ve worked with other organizations and businesses such as 3150 Clothing, B Condoms, Forget Me Knot Youth Services, and from my experience & things I saw inspired me to create Huey X Holdings.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some places I would tell you to check out 1st if you’re a rap fan the trap music museum, if you wanted some healthy vegan food slutty vegan, if you wanted some organic/holistic needs Wadada ATL, some late night food/fun magic city, and for some tattoo art book with Official 2 Shotta.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Their’s a lot of people I can say that helped me get to where I am in life from the ones who have came before me James Baldwin, Nina Simone, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, Langston Hughes, Marcus Garvey, Maya Angelou, Spike Lee, John Singleton, Dame Dash, Master P, but an actual hands on mentor the village. I was so much of a sponge growing up & adulthood that I would watch, read, and listen to anyone I deemed successful, interesting, or trailblazing in my perception from the mail man, fire fighters, coaches, and older people in the neighborhood doing the right thing.
