We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evan, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I actually did not come up with the idea for my business, but one of my best friends and someone I called my adopted brother did. His name was Bam and he started the record label. It was originally called Wham Bam records which he named after his two nicknames which were “Wham” and “Bam”. He was my right hand man and my business partner so I was helping him with his business idea.Tragically he was killed in February of 2024, a week after his 21 birthday. To honor his legacy and memory I decided to keep it going and to finish what we started. I registered his label as an LLC in Georgia under the name Bamplify Music Group or “BMG” which was more professional and still kept Bam’s name alive, with the help of my mentor and auntie Renee Palmer. Originally we had 3 main artist that Bam started with who have stayed true to this business idea and are continuing to ride with me on this journey.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an up and coming entrepreneur out of Atlanta, Ga. I think what sets me apart is my drive and my reason for wanting to accomplish my goal of running a successful record label. I am most exited about to work we are planning to put out and I am proud of my team for helping me make this dream become a reality. Professionally I still have a long way to go but I got this far with the help of my mentor. The one thing I can say is that this is not easy or guaranteed, but you must be willing to take a risk. I am able to overcome the challenges with my faith in God and preparation. One lesson I’ve learned is that clothes mouths don’t get fed and that networking is key. I want the world to know that my brand is about keeping my brothers name alive while giving my artist the artist freedom to express themselves to the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting for a week I would tell them that they would have to visit some of our attractions downtown such as the world of coke since Atlanta is the home of coke and centennial Olympic park. As far as food, you obviously have to go to chic-fil-a and Waffle House but we also have food spots like the Bando, Atl wings off MLK, Scotch Bonnet Jamaican food truck, and Breakfast at Barney’s. A good lounge would be Escobar lounge of Peter st. And you have to check out Cascade skating rink. Those are some of my top spots around the city.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Renee Palmer who is a mentor to me in entrepreneurship and also me and Bam’s auntie.
My artist Swipadafoxx, 4way Chip, and ItsR@ye
