We had the good fortune of connecting with Esther Sarlo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Esther, what matters most to you?
It may sound trite or overused, but I believe love is the foundation of everything. Loving ourselves first…and then from that foundation, extending love to others. This applies to our personal life, our relationships, our business life, and our service to the world—with love being the thread that weaves through all of it.

If we do not come from a place of love in all we ARE and all we do, then it will be much more difficult for us to live into our Purpose or Calling. Whether you’re a labourer, a medical professional, an accountant, a creative, an administrative person, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, a scientist, in law enforcement or peacekeeping, or something else…I believe the power of your impact will be exponentially increased when you come from a place of love first.

This does NOT mean viewing life through rose-coloured glasses or through an impractical and unrealistic filter of forced optimism. It does not mean perfection. It does not always mean FEELING loving. What is DOES mean, is to be authentic, genuine, and caring in the face of the spectrum of the positive and challenging aspects of life and our interactions with each other. When we consciously choose to return to kindness, empathy, connection, supportiveness, meaningful exchanges, beauty, forgiveness, and joy, we are consciously choosing a life of love. That is really what matters most.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As the Founder | CEO | Myndful Spark of Mynd Myself, I am proud to bring to the world a website that is a global trusted source for Complementary, Holistic, and Integrative (CHI) information…AND Practitioners. Until now, I have not seen a business that has been this far-reaching and broad ranging from Holistic perspectives.

If you had asked me 5 years ago what I would be doing now, I would not have believed this possible. NOW, I feel like this is my calling, to bring this information to the world, particularly women in their 40s and up, and share Practitioners who can help people navigate their health journeys more easily. My goal is to help people everywhere become their own best health advocates.

It took over 2 years to build this website and countless hours of research. We are now in the first phase of being live for just over a year. I’m proud to say that people from 56 different countries have come to visit the site so far.

Lessons learned:
* Stay the course. I’m way out on the skinny branches here but I am committed to the success of this endeavour
* There are amazing and fabulous people everywhere…and everyone has a story.
* Listening is so important
* Cultivating unity and collaboration are absolutely critical
* I know there are exactly the right people out there who will contribute to taking Mynd Myself to the next level

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As I live in British Columbia, Canada, I would take my best friend to places around this province in the summer. We would: * Go forest bathing regularly throughout the week.
* Visit the Ocean and lakes in my local area.
* We would spend some time in Vancouver to experience the many amazing things that world-class city has to offer.
* Travel to the Kootenays and swim in lots of lakes.
* While we are at my home, I would cook amazing and delicious food sourced from farmers. When we are out and about, we would find restaurants that served nutritious, healthy, delicious food from farm to table. We would also sample fare from as many different cultures as possible, including Greek, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Lebanese, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, etc.
* We would take in some local and international music events.
* We would go dancing.
* We would attend inspiring theatre.
* We would visit parks, waterfalls, trails, eagle and bird sanctuaries, etc. and walk lots every day.
* Throughout, we would enjoy silence…AND conversations about life, love, the state of the world, connections, history, the future, humour, and what has transpired in our own lives, particularly over the past few years.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to my awesome partner, Bill Chalmers—Artist, Speaker, Writer, Business Coach, Entrepreneur, and all-around renaissance man. His unswerving support and constant championing of the magnificence of my calling is something for which I’m grateful every moment.

I am also vastly appreciative all all the Healthcare Providers in the world who come from a place of open-hearted service and truly live the Hippocratic Oath that includes committing to:
* Acting in the best interest of the patient and do no harm
* Respecting and protecting the privacy of patients
* Recognizing the patient’s right to make their own decisions about their healthcare
* Ensuring fair and equal access to healthcare
* Passing on accurate and efficacious medical knowledge and skills to future generations.

Finally, I’m so appreciative of people who have gone through difficult health journeys and have bravely sought holistic solutions, either alongside Western Medicine or as alternatives. I want to hear your stories!
