We had the good fortune of connecting with Erik Vibes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erik, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We’ll I’m an RnB artist.. I love singing and writing music, I can be in my feelings sometimes so its a good way to get all of that out. Coming up in this game you don’t make a lot of money at first. I needed a way to connect with my fans and also make a living so that I could keep doing what I love to do. I figured making T-shirts out of lyrics or images that relate to the music I release would be the best way to go.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I only can write what I feel I connect with the instrumentals and let them what I’m feeling. My first and second project did really well consider I’m backing this with my own money and going up against major recording artist with big budgets. It wasn’t easy at all I’ve had to pivot many times but I just keep my head down and keep working, learning, and growing. Along the way I’ve just learned not to take anything personally. Hopefully from my music an merch people get who I am.. A young man that wants to find love not just for myself, but for the world.. Oh and that I like to be left alone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a big foodie so we are definitely hitting up Lazy Betty, and Ecco Midtown for dinner. There’s also these two really nice pop-up restaurants that I’d take them two Ebicho bar (@ebichobar) which explores the food of the African Diaspora and another from a friend of mine named Spinapizza (@spinapizza).

We would most definitely hang out with my crew that I met here while in Atlanta. Drinking while having a bonfire in the back yard. Most of these are artist just in different fields than I which helps us work together in alot of ways. I also have been dying to goto an escape room. Hiking is a favorite of ours, so a trail within a hours reach with a waterfall would do.

My boi Roger Alexander be throwing these amazing boat parties too so if we could catch that things would be legendary!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everyone that worked on my first single “Problem Child” is very much essential to how far I have come in this industry. My family heard it first and felt like I had something and from them that was big for me! My big Brother “Steeley” gave me my first feature from a rapper which was amazing by the way. Another honorable mention would be Roger Alexander he shot and directed the video for that music video and encouraged me I could do this.
