We had the good fortune of connecting with Erik Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erik, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well. I have owned several businesses dating all the way back to the 90s. I have been a serial entrepreneur since middle school. But this idea came from another venture I currently have, a matchmaking company called Erik’s Single Man Emporium. During our event I made sure to give all the men a gift bag with cool stuff in it. One of those items were Grey Sweatpants. It was a huge hit. That moment sparked the clothing company Eggplant sweats by the Sweat Company

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
People often laugh because most don’t know what I do. Honestly sometimes I don’t even know what I do for a living. My life as a professor and serial entrepreneur has allowed me to connect, advise and venture in some pretty amazing spaces.

My brand EGGPLANT SWEATS was born out of another venture. I’m just so happy that people love it. The overarching brand “The Sweat Company” brings quality clothes to quality people without the pretentiousness of high cost.

To venture off and do different things is not easy. Honestly most people won’t believe in the project or even believe in you or your dreams. You have to KNOW what you have and have to be confident that it will work. It’s either in you or it’s not.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

SOOOOOO MANY MORE Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my ability to think outside the box and take on crazy endeavors to my family. When I say I want to record an album they say do it! When I say I want to create a matchmaking service which focuses on highlighting men so it’s easier for women to find the man they want they say do it! When I say I want to start a clothing company that makes amazing clothes and happens to be named EGGPLANT they say, you guessed it do it. So shouting out my family and friends and saying my village helped make me is an understatement. I owe them everything.
