Meet Erica Nelson | CEO of Savthegoodgirl/ Podcast Host & Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Living a luxury lifestyle is not just about wearing Louis Vuitton, Gucci, or Prada, it’s truly how we decide to live in all areas of our lives. I worked in different categories of the luxury business my entire career, and when you think about luxury, you think about the price being attached to the craftsmanship, quality, attention to detail and exclusivity. This is what embodies the Savethegoodgirl brand! I wanted to create content that is 100% quality, whether you are listening to the podcast, visiting the site/blog, or on social media. Savethegoodgirl started when I was creating Facebook posts encouraging my friends to love themselves, build confidence, provide tips for career goals, and being positive about dating. At the end of each post, I would always #savethegoodgirl, and the meaning was to save the good parts that we have within us and expand on that. Many friends would send messages about looking forward to my daily tips, and shared how much they loved the name Savethegoodgirl! When I thought about having my own podcast and blog, I thought for weeks on what the name could be. Savethegoodgirl, continued to be heavily on my mind, and I decided to create my brand off of this! I am very passionate about getting my voice out there and lead with inspiration and authenticity. We deserve quality, attention to detail in our lives, and getting everything that we desire, but it starts with the mindset. Everything you watch, hear and feel can affect how you live. My mission is to provide quality content, help shift the perspectives we may have, and allow us to feel renewed inside and out-luxuriously!

What sets your brand apart from any other brand?
What sets my brand apart is the direct connection between content and luxury being fused together. The whole brand is about having a luxury lifestyle but for your mind, because when you look good, you feel even better. Every week there are new episodes and blogpost that will enrich your mind and shift you into positive action in a fun way. It’s like talking to your best friend, me! I am most proud of the feedback I receive about the show and how it has been helping people. Whenever you decide to do your own business, you do not know who you are touching. Hearing the feedback and how it’s really helping people brings me true joy! A big lesson that I learned along the way, is how vital it is to protect your energy! I am not the most creative when I’m overwhelmed or drained, I am learning how to respect my boundaries to let my creativity flow and flourish. I want the world to know that we deserve a luxury life, and to give ourselves a fair shot, it’s time for us to do it and Savethegoodgirl will assist you on the journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with a beautiful coffee shop, a nice walk by a park with gorgeous water views. Lunch at a Thai place, there is one called Kin’d in NY that I love. My favorite thing to do is a TJ Maxx run, yes I would take my guest there hahah! You never know what you will find! Dinner in Manhattan, there are so many locations we can explore the city and see what we are in the mood for, and I would end it off with a great rooftop! There is nothing more beautiful than the views of the city, a great walk and great company, and a cute cocktail!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story would not be in existence if it wasn’t for the amazing God given support I am blessed to receive from my parents, Erick and Vania. My character, integrity, intellectualism, and charisma are all wonderful attributes inherited from my parents. I thank God daily for their love, support, and all of the sacrifices they made for myself and siblings. I am forever grateful for their encouragement, believing in me, loving me, and teaching me how to love myself. I tear up when I think about how phenomenal they are and I am so grateful that God chose me to be their daughter.
I also would love to express my gratitude to my friends, family and supporters of Savethegoodgirl. There has been many sleepless nights, tears, joy, and anger that friends and family have been apart of. They are a huge part of my journey and strong encouragement. I am grateful for every call, meetup, voicenote and encouraging words, this was the fuel needed for me to keep going and to stay motivated. There are too many people to name, but know that I love and appreciate you so much! You are part of my DNA! I also want to thank my supporters! You are the reason why I continue to do what I do, and I will continue to strive to ALWAYS provide luxury for you!
Last but certainly not least, I have to thank my grief counselor, therapist, and grief group. Going through the loss of my father is the toughest life experience I have encountered until this day. I didn’t see myself anymore, I didn’t see joy, I didn’t see a future. Having the emotional support to get me back to me, is something I don’t have enough words to express. The amount of love, respect and admiration I have for them is massive. Thank you for believing in me, praying for me, being patient and encouraging. This journey would not be the same without you, and I love you all.
