Meet Erica Mason | Wellness Artist & Mental Health Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Mason and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Whew—honestly, survival. At first, it was me realizing that no one was coming to save me. I had a gift, a voice, a purpose—but I couldn’t wait around for someone to hand me permission to use it. I started my own business because I was tired of shrinking, tired of asking for a seat at tables that were never built with people like me in mind.
Starting my business was about reclaiming power. It was about building a space where healing, creativity, and authenticity weren’t just buzzwords—they were the foundation. I wanted to create a world where Black women, queer folks, people who carry invisible pain—could come as they are and be seen, be celebrated, be supported

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my healing. It’s music for the soul—raw, honest, and rooted in transformation. I’m not just creating songs; I’m building spaces where people can feel, remember, and come home to themselves. Whether it’s a lyric, a live experience, or a spoken word, everything I create is layered with vulnerability, spirituality, and truth. What sets me apart isn’t just my voice—it’s my intention. I’m not chasing virality, I’m chasing impact. I want people to walk away from my work feeling seen, softened, and a little more free.
One thing I’m most proud of is that I’ve built this independently. No big label, no handouts—just a vision, a calling, and a whole lot of faith. From performing in small rooms to curating sold-out retreats around the world, I’ve had to wear a thousand hats—artist, businesswoman, marketer, visionary. It hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced rejection, burnout, doubt, and seasons where the bank account didn’t match the belief. But I kept going. I’ve learned that discipline will carry you when motivation fades, and that rest is resistance, not laziness.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know, it’s this: My story—and this brand—isn’t about perfection. It’s about becoming. It’s about reminding people that healing is possible, that creativity can be sacred, and that you don’t have to shrink to be worthy. I built this for the misfits, the feelers, the strong friends, the late bloomers—for anyone who’s ever felt like too much and not enough at the same time.
This is more than art. It’s a movement. It’s a mirror. And I’m just grateful to still be growing through it
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was in town, we’d keep it soulful, fun, and lowkey luxurious. We’d start the mornings slow—oat milk lattes from Black Coffee, then walks through Piedmont Park to ground ourselves and catch up. One night we’re dressing up for Planta, the next we’re grabbing the best sushi in the city at 8 Sushi. We’d definitely spend an afternoon at the High Museum getting inspired, and sneak in a healing moment—maybe a sound bath or spa day to reset. I’m big on vibes, so there’d be picnics, deep convos, dancing somewhere carefree, and probably a night in watching Survivor or Game of Thrones

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my close-knit circle—my friends and family who see and care for the whole me. Not just the businesswoman or the artist, but the soft, tired, goofy, healing, becoming versions of me. The ones who check in when the cameras are off. The ones who remind me I’m loved even when I’m not “on.” That kind of presence is rare, and I’m grateful for it every day.
I also want to recognize the supporters of this movement—the people who believe so deeply in what I do that they’re willing to invest in my small business. Whether it’s buying a ticket, sharing a post, or sowing into the vision, y’all don’t just say you support—you show it. And that matters. Thank you for helping me build something that’s rooted in healing, truth, and real love
