We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Benton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, what do you attribute your success to?
Most people think beauty is about changing the way you look but to me it’s about enhancing the natural beauty you already possess. That’s the most important thing that sets brands and professionals apart and levels success is their delivery and creativity. I believe for my brand to remain successful I must stay true myself and my uniqueness. That’s important to me because I’m in an industry where there is only so many things that can be altered but creativity is per individual . “In order to be irreplaceable once must always be different” -Coco Chanel

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got started practicing makeup out of boredom and curiosity. I had gotten my makeup professionally done and got inspired so I began and haven’t looked back. I started with the Chicago Makeup Academy and with working with the glam squad I had to a opportunity to work on Star Host for WGCI Radio station. Since then I have grown and am very confident with my work, I started my own artistry in Atlanta. Recently I worked on set with Emile Rose and a few music videos. My services include natural and full glam for night out, events I.e weddings, prom, graduations etc. Music artists/entrepreneurs are who I have great experience with so of course book with me. Soon I will be offering more services like Lash extensions as an additional service.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a full time entrepreneur I start my day with checking my social pages and messages. Currently I am on a weight journey I will exercise make a light meal and start clients. I’m a pretty chill person I hang with my family and friends and occasionally go out in Buckhead. My favorite thing to eat is seafood so of course when I dine out I’m getting a seafood boil. I also travel so I manage my itinerary twice a day and sometimes have travel clients at spur of moment but I love what I do.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to acknowledge the Owner/Lead Celebrity MUA Sheena Marie of Sheena Marie Beauty in Chicago, IL, she is the first person that I saw using her talent and capitalizing on a large scale. Also My brother Dir. Zae Williams who supports like no other I’m beyond grateful and he is such a great role model in my life for what success looks like, thank you. Thanks to all my family and friends for love and support, I will continue to work hard. And have to mention my dad who I recognize for what it is to be a hard worker.
