Meet Eric Janeau | Certified Life Coach and Motivational Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Janeau and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business started out of trauma and heartache. I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma, during July 2021. It was difficult to hear, to understand, and it was painful. However, regardless of what I felt, it was even more heartbreaking to see others during their treatment, give up and ultimately quit life. There I was fighting to live and I saw so many deciding to check out of the fight. I knew that I had to do something to help. I spoke with my brother, who was also a cancer survivor and he said, “welcome to your new life.” It became clear that cancer does not have to be a death sentence. It is a battle, but it’s a battle that we can defeat with the right supports, but more importantly, a renewed mindset. I started my company as a resource and tool, designed to aid others to navigate this disease and other ailments, in a manner that will assist them with becoming victorious.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been an athlete my entire life. As a child, I enjoyed sports. I have played golf, tennis, basketball, and professional football. I am most proud of making All American because this is something that I was blessed to accomplish during what I felt was one of the most tumultuous times of my life. To train and later transition into a field that only 1 percent of athletes have an opportunity to reach was an amazing experience. There were may times that quitting felt easier than continuing; however, it was not an option. Victory was and still is my mindset. Challenges and setbacks are apart of life; however, the mindset and the grit to do better and reach a state of excellency is what I knew and continue to stand on today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a comedy club regular. I enjoy laughter, and since it’s said that a smile is contagious, I like seeing others smile. I genuinely value quality energy and happy vibes. I am also into the history of our city. I enjoy visiting places such as Auburn Ave and MLK.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to take a moment to shout out God, for allowing me to continue on this road of life. My ENTIRE WellStar medical team, with special appreciation to Dr. Carmen Klass (Oncologist) and Dr. Scheoff (Surgeon). My supportive family and friends with much gratitude to my Big Brother, Mr. Gregory Janeau, Alphonse Janeau, Sister Cynthia Evans, and tenacious friend, Dr. Tara Miller.
