We had the good fortune of connecting with Eniola Dipeolu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eniola, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was not satisfied with the 9-5 job schedule. I wanted to create life in my terms and work for myself. I also wanted freedom.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a licensed professional counselor. I think what sets me apart is that I can relate to the Nigerian American community (West African as well). I am very proud of the fact that even though this is a small niche I am able to offer them services. If I did not take the risk of resigning my comfortable corporate job and starting my own business from scratch; I would not be this happy at where I am today. Honestly, the road was not that difficult because I was so confident that I would make it. The lesson I have learned is that there is no right time to start something; just do it. I have also learned that financial literacy is important and vital to keep your business going. Another lesson is that networking is your best friend and that isolation will hold you back from moving forward in your business; a lot of my clients are from my colleagues that I have met throughout my career. I want the world to know mental health is vital for humanity. I also want the world to know that it is never too late or ambitious to start your own business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to: World of Coca-Cola, CNN, Aquarium, a show in Fox Theatre, Botanical Gardens. As for restaurants I would take them to Bahama Breeze, Church 5, Clutch, and Seasons 52. I would also suggest a nice lounge at night, there are so many to choose from. In my view, the most exciting and interesting places to check out are restaurants.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank God for allowing me to stand on my own. I also wanted to thank my mother and my immediate family for the support they have given me throughout my success.
