We had the good fortune of connecting with En Root Travel, LLC. Tyshana Richard & Nicole Sahbaee – Co-Founders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi En Root Travel, LLC., what makes you happy? Why?
Traveling makes us happy because it is a means of cultural connection and exploration. Throughout all of the places we’ve visited each one has their own unique impact on each of us and our daily life perspectives. Through travel we are capable of being more thoughtful, open, and free minded people. We are able to develop relationships with people we never would have crossed paths with in our day-to-day lives. It is a beautiful experience to be able to do something that makes us so happy and spread that joy to our participants who join us on our trips through out the diaspora.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a travel group created specifically for HBCU Alumni and that’s what distinguishes us from other brands! We strive to recreate the HBCU environment on our trips. We are most proud of our ongoing growth, especially since most of it was made through a global pandemic. We are most excited to keep exposing people to new places, cultures, and experiences that they can cherish forever. We got to where we are today with a lot of hard work, dedication, and support from our loved ones. It certainly was not an easy journey, there were a lot of obstacles we’ve had to overcome to get to the point we’re at. Although we’ve had many struggles to figure out, we always find a solution and the challenges we’ve faced have only made us a stronger business and team. We want everyone to know that our brand is important to us because it goes beyond us and travel…one of our favorite things about taking HBCU alumni around the world is being able to give to the communities that we visit. In an industry that’s known for taking a lot of resources, we cherish the opportunities we get to connect with Black people across the world and widen our scope beyond the American mindset. As we grow we hope to be able to expose others to opportunities to give in their travels as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our group was founded because of our friendship that was developed at Howard University during multiple service trips and cultural immersion experiences, so we would like to thank Howard for bringing us together! We would also like to thank our amazing parents for their unconditional support and reassurance through out the early stages of building our business. We’d also like to thank our friends for their support and loyalty!
