We had the good fortune of connecting with Empress Bey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Empress, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
This is a very great question, thank you so much for asking. So when I first initially stepped into the Fashion World I only wanted to style men. However, my calling was much higher and greater than just styling. The vision for The Style Lyfe was birth after my lupus diagnosis in 2016. When I begin to go through a lot of physical, emotional and mental changes it really took a toll on my lifestyle that not many people know about. And so as I received the vision and provision from God, I began to dig deeper into what I wanted my brand to represent in 2017.

I did a lot of brainstorming and I definitely went through a lot of different thoughts when it came to my brand, I was really excited about everything that came up. One of the biggest things I knew that women had a challenge with was wardrobe and the mindset around their closet. However, I sort of let that Vision go over the years and especially when covid hit. It wasn’t until late 2023 when I begin to fall back in love with myself and see the original vision and thought process behind the brand from 2017.

I’m super excited for the gifts that I have been given to serve and be able to support and help women!

What should our readers know about your business?
I always love this question of course! So the name of my business is The Style Lyfe, my company focuses on fashion, lifestyle and self care. Currently, I am continuing to build each and every portion of my company. So far I have been able to create personal style packages, this is women in the professional arena with their wardrobe and mindset. What I do is help women to create a personal style that represents their brand and their professional and personal life. I help them to create a transformation to where no matter how busy their schedule is they can show up as their truest self in any environment they arrive in.

The biggest thing that sets me apart, is I am Empress Bey!! I’m really big on customer service and helping and making Every Woman feel like she’s on top of the world. I have such a powerful testimony and a long journey of things that have occurred in my life I can always resonate with each woman I Style with a story from my past.

I’m grateful to be in the place I am today, one of the biggest things that I do is walk in a place of being intentional! That is my word for 2024, to be intentional with all things that I do. Having resilience is one of the biggest reasons that I am where I am today, each time I have faced the obstacle, I really felt like the world was caving in. And it was in June 2023 where I really had to trust and lean on God to help me through a really tough moment. That was an extremely tough moment for me to endure.

Some of the toughest lessons I have learned along the way, is that just because somebody is with you while you are building doesn’t mean that they are long-term. I also have learned that keeping everything organized for my business is something that will continue to take my business far and create longevity. Another huge lesson that I have learned is, make sure I have people sign in NDA before I share anything with them, especially when it comes to my ideas for my business.

I want the world to know, that the biggest thing in life you can be is more of your truest self! Our brand is very beautiful because it represents women loving themselves freely everyday, without seeking permission from other people. I want people to know that even when the road gets tough, and you feel like you would like to self-sabotage out of something good, if you just trust in that inner instinct, that God feeling within you, everything will work out the way it was designed to. Our brand is very polished, refined and creative! I want the world to know I am not the lupus diagnosis, or the suicidal thoughts that I have experienced; but I’m a woman with a purpose and a passion and I plan to utilize and share that through my brand!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a very great question LOL, so if my three best friends were to come to town I’d take them to Mount Bonnell. This is a very beautiful place to visit, and at the top you are able to see all of the million dollar mansions on the lake. I would have a chef come out and cater a picnic lunch for us so we can just have girl time and girl chat! Then, I would take them to the Museum of Ice cream in the Domain so we could all take photos. Then of course, Jeffrey’s for lunch and Bulevar Mexican Kitchen for dinner.

Then since it will be a weekend trip, I would definitely take them to some of the nicest boutiques here in Austin. Some of my favorites are Addie Rose, Showroom, Valentines and Estilo Austin. All my best friends love clothes, and they are super into personal style so we definitely we’d have a great time at these boutiques.

Then I would have to take them to the Four Seasons brunch on Sunday, this place is very nice and they always step it up with an all you can eat Gourmet breakfast, however the food is amazing! I also do the half day Hill Country Wine shuttle tour with these amazing ladies, since we would already be dressed up for brunch we may as well go for a wine tour.

One of the other places I would take them is to the Austin Mural selfie tour so that we will be able to take plenty of selfies, and be able to have photos from memories. Then I’d probably take them on the Austin Boat Tour, so that we can all be on the lake and look at homes that we desire to have!

These are my girls! And I’m so grateful for them so I would definitely have a whole extremely fun, fabulous and fierce itinerary planned for us!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! This one is very great because there are so many people that I can shout out. When it comes to my story and my brand, I really first and foremost would like to thank God for allowing me to even have such a huge vision to share with other people.

Then there’s my style mentor and coach Lauren Messiah, when I first took some of her courses in 2017 I was super excited and felt extremely connected with her. Over the years I’ve always followed her social media and her YouTube to continue to grow and learn. In 2022, when I felt all over the place I reached out to her so that I can get more help. She has a program called style boss Academy, where she helps stylist to grow and build credible and phenomenal businesses. She has so much knowledge, wisdom, spirituality and just overall Positive Vibes that resonate with me on every level I couldn’t help but to continue to grow from someone like her!

I also want to give a huge shout out to William Haynes, he’s someone I’ve known for the past 7 to 8 years that has watched me and my brand grow. He was there from the beginning when I had the original visions, and with his business expertise in marketing tips over the years he has really been able to help me continue to bring my vision to life. I’m extremely grateful and thankful he’s always been here.

I’d like to give a shout out to the organization I’m a part of in Austin,Texas call black women in business. This organization is led by a fearless leader, Coach Rose Smith, who has been a significant part of my journey and has helped me to cultivate who I am as a woman in business. She’s always been extremely motivational and on top of her A game!

I’d also like to thank Louise Harris and Terry Mitchell for being amazing mentors and business coaches over the course of my journey building my brand. These ladies definitely know their business, but they are also Visionaries and they always reminded me to keep the vision of my brand!

I’d like to give a huge shout out to my three best friends; Kaia, Porscha and Mynka plus my friends Ayisha and Courtney who have all been a huge support system on my journey. I can really unmask myself with these ladies and they don’t judge, and they really help me to articulate my thoughts for my brand. They are some amazing friends and I’m super grateful to have them be a part of my journey with my brand!

And of course, I’d like to give a shout out to my family; my mom and her husband, my sister, my niece and nephew plus my two amazing sons. Without them, I’d be lost! They have been a support system and a true backbone whenever I feel like giving up on everything. I’m super grateful to have such a great and honorable support system!

And last, shout out to anyone that I may have forgotten. There have been a lot of people that have been supporting me on my journey and I’m grateful for each and every one of them! So this last shotout is for anyone that I didn’t mention in any of the previous shoutouts!
