Meet Emonie the Original: Independent Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emonie the Original and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emonie the Original, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want to inspire someone to be brave enough to be themselves freely without the fear of what others think. I feel like, this kind of thing is a disease…these self limitations. In high school i had this “diseased” mindset, but I overcame it, I just want to be an explain for my family, friends and followers.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Where to start, music has always been a part of me since I was little. From making up theme songs in my head to performing them in front of my sisters, music made my world more interesting and exciting. I looked up to artists like Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Lauren Hill, Toni Braxton and many others. I taught myself how to play piano when I was 14. My parents had surprised me with a keyboard on day after school and from there on out I was constantly creating, writing everything down in my songbooks. I started taking music seriously in high school. I auditioned and was accepted into a private music school and at 17 my parents gifted me with a home studio set up. I began producing instrumentals for the songs I would write down in my songbooks and the rest is history. I performed at the House of Blues in the spring of 2015 after submitting my original music and later on, ventured out to to Atlanta where I produced and released my first mixtape ‘Dear Diary’ on Soundcloud. Other popular releases were ‘These Violets’ and most recently ‘Takemeback’ available everywhere. Throughout my music journey I’ve learned not to overthink my style and brand. Believe me, this was a major obstacle for my growth, but I learned that being myself is the best way to brand my music. I want to motivate other artists to do the same thing, because in the end that is what’s going to make you stand out from the rest! Just being originally you, hence my stage name EmonieOriginal.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lets just say I love the simplistic things in life. I’ll take you to a creek not too far from where I stay and have you out there in the water climbing the rocks! Adventure gets my heart pumping. There’s a spot called the Edge of the World and its like a private lake with ropes tied on the trees so you can swing off them and splash into the water way down below. After this hike, we’d slow it down and grab something to eat from the Slutty Vegan in the city and end the day off back at home–a large beautiful industrial style cabin in the middle of the woods. We’ll drive 1 mile up the drive way leading us up to my warm home. Kick ya shoes and clothes off and then unravel in the jacuzzi under the stars and glass of Chateau. If we both don’t end up passing out, I’ll put on a horror movie. This is my ideal dream day but it all depends on my mood for the day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
