We had the good fortune of connecting with Emmanuel Dunbar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emmanuel, how does your business help the community?
At Royal Diaspora Coffee we focus on “farm to cup”. This means we invest time working with local farmers in South America. In order for to make this happen, we travel to South America and spend several weeks learning how each farmer takes care of their crops and we also make sure that they are compensated fairly. This investment of our time has paid dividends because we establish lasting and trustworthy relationships with our farmer partners.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Royal Diaspora Coffee stemmed from a concept of bringing the world together through coffee. How? Imagine knowing exactly where the brew in your cup came from. Imagine seeing the face of the family farm that catered to the beans you are enjoying in your cup. All of a sudden, the world seems smaller and more relatable.

We faced challenges in the beginning, namely; where to source, how to import, how to roast the beans, etc. But we surrounded ourselves with industry experts and friendly competitors to help us along the way.

We want the world to know that we are not just another “here today, gone tomorrow” coffee company. We believe in our vision and mission to unite people from around the world through coffee. If you can see and relate to the people producing things we consume, will you not have a different perspective?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is truly a gem. I would recommend to start the trip with a quick bite to eat near the airport – a little place called Spondivits. Their drinks are strong, the seafood is amazing, and the service is legendary. Once we get into down town, we must stop through Centennial Olympic Park to focus spend some time being in the center of the city. Next, as we make our way to Buckhead – we need to stop again for some shopping at Phipps and Lenox malls. There is never any shortage of fabulousness there. For breakfast, I would recommend a place called “Mother Hen” in the Johns Creek area – they have the best cinnamon rolls ever created!

For an all around experience with food, shops, and relaxation – Ponce City Market is the place to be.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to thank our family for their continuous support through our growth process. We also want to thank our network of friends, collegiate mentors and teammates that continue to encourage us and open doors for us to become a nationwide success.
